Chapter Ten
Ricky moved into Sinners’ Corner, and became the talk of the entire town. He seemed to be everywhere, the diner, the club, Dirty Deeds, even in the grocery store. Saint didn’t seem to mind him, and the two got along great. Both clubs had actually welcomed him, and there was a kind of peace settling among everyone.
“It won’t last,” Sarah said. “Those men love conflict more than anything.”
Elena sighed. “You spend way too much time watching gangster movies. Ricky is a nice guy. Pipe invited him over for dinner, and he was so sweet with the kids. I’m not going to judge him.”
“What about you, Nat? Are you going to help me out here?”
“Right now I’m confused. This is your day off. Both of yours day off, and yet you’re here, working.” Natasha placed her hand on her hip. “What is up with that?”
“I thought you’d like the help. It’s delivery day,” Elena said.
“I’ve been given strict instructions from your charming husband not to let you overdo it. You want me to get killed?”
“No. I don’t want you to get killed.”
“What then?” Natasha asked. “Don’t you trust me?”
“No, no, of course not,” Sarah said.
“Our revenue has gone up in the months that you’ve been working. We’re able to commit to more internet sales, and you’re great company,” Elena said.
“What is it?” Natasha asked. Thursdays she got the shop to herself. Not that she was complaining of the company. It was nice to have Elena and Sarah with her. Only if they’d been like this every other time, she wouldn’t have been so suspicious.
“I wanted to talk about Ricky. I heard he was really making Sinners’ Corner his town. Even heard that he visited the library where Prue works.”
“Prudence Anderson?” Natasha asked.
“You know her?” Elena asked.
“I don’t know her. I went to school with her older, bitch of a sister. Prue was always this sweet little girl. She’s your age, Elena.”
“I know. I went to school with her, and she still is quiet and shy.”
“Anyway, you both are changing the subject. Why?”
The sudden sound of bikes riding into town had them turning toward the windows.
“This is the reason,” Sarah said.
Natasha frowned as she made her way out of Dirty Deeds. There had to be at least thirty bikers of the Saints and Sinners MC along with the Hell’s Wolves MC.
One man stood in the center, and her heart started to pound.
“Saint?”
He smiled at her, and Elena gave her a little push. Glaring at her, Natasha made her way toward the man who owned her heart.
“What’s going on?” she asked, nervous.
“I think you know,” he said, going down to one knee.
“Oh my,” she said.
“Natasha Greenwood, there was only ever one woman I’d ever say this to, and I know you’re her. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, and my old lady?”
She pressed her hands to her cheeks. Tears filled her eyes, and she nodded her head. Words failed her as she stared at the beautiful diamond ring.
