“I want to try at least.”

She nodded, bringing my hand up to her mouth. “I want to try too.”

“Good.” I looked back out at the road ahead of us.

“Do you think we would have had issues if Sunny were still alive?”

“What do you mean?” I asked, trying not to pay attention to how she placed my hand back on her inner thigh but higher this time.

“I mean, that being married to more than one person is illegal in this state.”

“We would have figured something out.” I often wondered what would have happened as well. Although if we lived together like I knew we would have, we would be married in every sense of the word. We didn’t need a piece of paper proving that.

“When we get home after this weekend, can we go see him?”

“Of course, baby. Anything you want.”

“Thank you,” she whispered, staring out the window.

“What is it?” I gave her thigh a pinch when she didn’t answer me. “Hey, talk to me.”

“I love you.” She looked at me then. “I love you so fucking much. I just want to make sure that I’m enough for you.”

“What?” I shook my head. “Of course, you are enough for me. What makes you think that you’re not?”

She shrugged, glancing away from me.

Just when I was about to pull off to the side of the road so I could hold her and talk to her, I saw a motel come into view. I had planned on driving until we got to Toledo, but this was more important. It delayed our plans a bit but if I could get through to Meadow, the delay would be worth it.

Meadow

I wasn’t normally aself-conscious person. I said what was on my mind and did what I could to get what I wanted. But my confidence was lacking lately. It was like as soon as Sunny died, that annoying little voice inside of my head nagged at me and made me question Shade’s love for me. It didn’t make sense.

As soon as I told Shade that I worried I wasn’t enough for him, he pulled the car into a nearby motel parking lot. He mentioned wanting to drive straight through to Toledo originally but now it seemed as if our plans had changed.

“I thought we were going to keep going until we got to the city?” I asked Shade as he slipped the vehicle into park.

“This is more important.”

Before I could say anymore, he left the car and came around to my side. He opened the door, staring down at me.

“Get out of the car, Little Lamb.” His voice took on that delicious timbre I had fallen in love with years ago. He wasn’t a dominant man by any means, that was my job, but when he was, my inner submissive purred, ready for her Master to do whatever it was that he wanted. “Meadow,” Shade barked. “I won’t say it again.”

I swallowed hard, undid my seat belt and left the car.

Shade shut the door, grabbed my arm, and pushed me up against it.

I gasped, arching into him.

He smirked, glancing down at my mouth. “I’m going to prove how much you are enough for me.”

“Really?” I repeated, my body heating. “How?”

“I got ideas. Maybe it’ll be for an hour. Maybe it’ll be all night.” His eyes darkened. “Can you handle that?”

It had been so long since I had my husband for the night. Sex was fast. As amazing as it was, and with how impatient I usually was, I still wanted to take it slow. To build anticipation. To find that passion we once had. I didn’t want a quick fuck. Not always.

Placing my hands on his chest, I stood on tiptoes and licked along his bottom lip. “The question is, Baby Boy, canyouhandle it?”
