An image came through a minute later, showing me her long, beautiful legs. Every cell in my body stirred.

Me: If you’re up to it, I’d like to have those legs wrapped around my face later.

Red: They can be wrapped around your face while I suck your cock. How does that sound?

Me: Fucking hell, I love you.

I could almost hear her laugh from here.

Red: I might head to Rouge to work a few hours. Depends on how I feel later. But that’ll give you something to look forward to. Love you, Sammy.

Me: Be safe and I love you too, Red.

I didn’t want her to work but I understood that she needed the money, so I never argued with her.

“Hey, we weren’t expecting you.”

My head snapped up, finding my brother standing on the front patio. “I know. This is a little last minute.” I put my phone away and trudged up the path to him. “Can we talk?”

“Of course.” He clapped my shoulder. “Everything okay? We were just about to sit down for lunch if you wanted to join us.”

I shook my head. “Thank you but I just stopped by to tell you something.” I pulled my wallet from my pocket, figuring showing him would be easier. “So…” Taking the ultrasound picture out, I handed it to him. “This happened.”

Cyrus took it from me, his eyes widening. They snapped to mine, back down to the picture between his fingers, back to me. “Really?”

I nodded. “Twins.”

“Fucking hell.” Cyrus pulled me into a hug. “I’m going to be an uncle.”

I swallowed hard at the thickness in his voice. “You are.”

He leaned back, cupping my nape. “Are you happy?”

“I am. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that she’s carrying twins, but we are. Very happy.” This had been the first time in a long time where Cyrus and I actually spoke about our feelings. It wasn’t something we did often. Not since he and Ainsley started dating. “I told her I love her.”

“It’s about fucking time.” Cyrus pulled away from me and went to the front door of the house. “I know you said you’re not staying but come in and see Ainsley. She’ll be pissed if you don’t at least say hi.”

Doing as I was told, I followed him into the house. “She said it back.”

Cyrus stopped, looking at me over his shoulder. “Were you concerned she wouldn’t?”

“I don’t know. Maybe? I’m not an easy person to get along with and I know I’ve been moody.” I shrugged, not liking this sudden anxiety rushing through me. I needed Amber. I needed the comfort of her arms wrapped around me as I tried gathering my thoughts.

“We’ve been through a lot, Sam. All of us have.”

“I know.” I thought a moment, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jeans. “I am happy, but I feel like something is going to fuck it up. I don’t know how or when but something’s going to happen. I’m not being paranoid, but Amber has…baggage to say the least.”

“Need me to look into things?” Cyrus asked, the protector in him coming out. “That Will fucker bothering her?”

“He’s making noise and I need to know what he wants.”

“I heard you had a run-in with him at Rouge,” Cyrus said as Ainsley came down the hall.

“Hey guys,” she said softly.

I held my arm out, waiting for her hug.

“I did. The bastard wouldn’t leave Amber alone. When I charged into the room and found her in his arms but not because she wanted to be there,” I explained as Ainsley hugged me from the side.
