“Say it,” I growled against her pussy. “Say you’ll marry me.”
“Yes, baby.” She tugged at my hair, pulling me closer. “God, yes. I’ll marry you.”
That had been over an hour ago and I couldn’t help but feel almost proud in the way I had her screaming my name in a matter of seconds. I made a mental note to buy her a ring but we both agreed, thankfully, that we didn’t want a long engagement.
“We have to tell my parents,” Busy said, just as her parents came into the room. She gave me a quick peck on the lips and joined her mom and dad.
I stood back, watching Busy interact with them and everyone else around us. She was the light in the darkness that had invaded my life for so long, I almost wasn’t sure how to move on from it. She would look at me every now and again, give me a small smile, blow me a kiss and continue talking to her family.
“You’re going to marry her.”
I didn’t say anything as Cyrus came up to my side.
“I’m right. Aren’t I?”
“Yes,” I finally said.
“Good.” He clapped my shoulder, giving it a squeeze. When he went to pull away, I grabbed his arm, stopping him.
“I…” I pulled my hand back, letting my arm drop to my side. “Thank you for helping me and making it so I could leave.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He winked and joined his brother at the bar.
“I need your help,” I told Cyrus when no one else was around and I could finally get him alone.
“Why would I help you?” The question may have been cold, but his tone wasn’t. Cyrus liked helping people. He wasn’t his brother. He didn’t hate everyone and feel like the world owed him something. No. He was kinder. Softer. But ruthless when he needed to be.
“Because I’m in love with Busy and I’m willing to do anything to make her happy and keep her safe.”
Luckily for me, Cyrus was a romantic at heart. He just never told anyone that and swore me to secrecy. Couldn’t ruin his rep and all.
“I’ll be the one to check out your room,” Cyrus explained, pacing back and forth in front of me. “And you’re going to act like you’re losing your shit. When you come into the room, you’ll find everything you need.” He stopped, his brows narrowing. “Don’t make me fucking regret helping you or I will tell my brother everything and put him on your ass. He’s grumpy and moody as fuck. I’m sure he’s itching for a little taste of blood.”
I owed him. I owed all of them. With my life. Literally.
“Hey.” Busy came up to me, a huge smile on her face. “You good?”
I pulled her into my arms, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. “I am now.”
“Good.” She snuggled her face into my chest.
Looking out at the group of people I had come to know over the past few months, I realized that I could get used to this. I never had a family before. Even with my club, I wouldn’t consider them family. It was more of a job and now that it was in Sky’s hands, a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.
Bud, Donny, and I had exchanged numbers since I got a new one and we made a point to keep in touch. They had been the only good thing to come out of the club. They never judged me when I went in guns blazing and took out dog fighting rings. Having dogs of their own, they understood.
“How does it feel to have a family now, Tanner?”
My body stiffened. “What?”
Busy smiled, standing on tiptoes and kissed my cheek. “You have a family now.”
“I have you,” I corrected her.
“Yes, you do.” Her smile widened. “But you have everyone else too and I know over time, they will come to know you like I do.”
“No.” I pinched her chin, tilting her head back. “No one will know me like you do. And that’s how I intend to keep it.”
Her eyes darkened. “Okay, well maybe not exactly like I know you, but they’ll still know you better and not from what the rumors said.”
