Gage just shook his head.

“I coughed?” I tried, again.

He shook his head again.

I just shrugged my shoulders and said, “Ooops.”

Gage called Rainey and put her on speakerphone. Rainey reported that she had all the kids locked safely in her hotel room. She had called her supervisor, who alerted the FBI that was in charge of this area. They, in turn, had called the police. The FBI knew where to find us, so we should sit tight.

“You are back in human form, aren’t you?” she asked.

“Do you really have to ask that?” I asked her.

“Maybe. I might also have to ask if you have clothes,” she added.

“We are fully dressed and presentable,” Gage said, laughing.

He ended the call.

The four men looked at us curiously.

Damian snarled at them.

All of them turned a shade paler. Then, they jumped in unison as there was a loud banging on the door.

“FBI. Open up,” a loud, deep voice demanded.

Gage announced himself as he opened the door. The other three of us held our hands up so the agents could see that we weren’t armed.

“We have a package for you, sir,” Gage said to the lead agent.

About that time, the New York Police detectives arrived.

I was grateful that they came just then. That way, we wouldn’t have to explain everything twice.

Gage, being the leader of our group, got the honor of briefing the law enforcement agents about what happened.

“We were hired to find the niece of a client. Her niece had been groomed and then kidnapped. We managed to trace them here through the girl’s emails and other intelligence we had already gathered. Our suspicions were confirmed when the niece managed to send a text message to our client, and we were able to track the phone.”

One of the tied up men said to another, “You idiot. I told you to keep your phone in a secure location.”

The chastised man just glared at the other.

Gage finished explaining how we had watched the house, although he left out the part about the physical forms we were in as we conducted our surveillance.

The lead FBI agent nodded and said, “We are well aware that your client is a special agent in the FBI, and that she took part in this operation.”

Gage acknowledged that she did, and explained the role that she had in bringing these men down and saving the children.

About this time, the four men started yelling at each other and blaming each other for letting Rainey into the house.

I casually walked over to them, and purposely made the air very warm on them with my breath as I told them to shut their mouths.

They promptly started sweating and did as they were ordered.

A few of the law enforcement people looked over at me with raised eyebrows.

“I guess I’m just that scary,” I said, shrugging my shoulders.
