“You really do love cooking, huh?” she asked and took a bite of asparagus.
I nodded. “It brings me joy. And I get to bring others joy at the same time. Win/win.”
She chuckled. “I like it.”
“Tell me about your father, what is he like?” I asked.
“Why? Wanna woo him too?” she asked through a giggle.
“Depends,” I said.
“On what?” she asked.
“Whether or not it’s as fun as it is to woo you,” I said. “There’s also that strange need to be accepted by the man that had a hand in creating the most intoxicatingly beautiful woman in the world.”
She sighed wistfully and shrugged. “Fair enough. He is my rock. It had been only me and him since I was a little girl.”
“What happened to your mother?” I asked, curious to know all I could about her and so much more.
“She got sick. It was too much for her to recover from.”
I cleared my throat. “I’m so sorry.”
“It was a very long time ago. Papa raised me into the woman I am today,” she said proudly. “I would be lost without him.”
“He’ll be here soon, I’m sure of it. I can’t wait to meet the man behind the woman.” I smirked.
“I’ve missed him. I would love for you to meet him,” she said and took a bite of a carrot.
“Did he meet Collin?” I asked. Part of me wanted to growl at the very mention of his name.
She shook her head. “I’m grateful he didn’t.”
“How did you end up with a guy like him anyway?” I asked. “He seems so far from your type.”
She shrugged. “He was extremely charming and kind. I just didn’t realize it was a mask until it was too late. Besides, what do you know of my taste in men?”
She smiled up at me from beneath her lashes, a coy smile stretched her lips. I chuckled. “I don’t know much of anything of your taste in men, only that you seem attracted to me, Declan, and King. We only have one thing in common.”
“That you’re all insanely gorgeous with rock hard bodies covered in hard-as-steel muscle?” she said.
I was speechless. “Uh…”
She chuckled. “Too much?”
“Nope.” I shook my head. “Nuh-uh. Although, I was referring to us being shifters.”
“Ah,” she said and took in another bite of her food. She moaned again.
I breathed in deep through my nose, the air was tainted with her arousal, and I moaned. “Are you always this aroused?”
She sighed wistfully, but didn’t shy away from my question, which I found not only astounding but very refreshing. Most girls were too timid and shy about their sexuality. I adored that Allana accepted and embraced hers.
“Only recently.” She bit her lip and added. “I tried to take care of that while in the bath, but it doesn’t ever seem to work for very long.”
I gripped the edges of the table as my pants became uncomfortably tight. “You really are making eating difficult to focus on.”
She smirked and shrugged. “Am I now?”
