Yet above all else, I had to let Grace know how important she was to me.

"Will you come to the party tonight?" I asked. "It's Dan's retirement, and I think they might also mention my birthday, since I'll be the lone senior broker now."

"Oh."

I was surprised that she looked so nervous. "You don't have to come, if it's not your thing. I can't guarantee there will be popcorn with cheese."

Her giggle was adorable. "I don't normally go to fancy events, that’s all. It might be weird with my parents there, don't you think?"

"They're going to have to get used to us being together." My hand ran slowly around the back of her thigh. "I plan to spend a lot of time with you. They're going to notice."

There was only a slight hesitation. "Okay."

I kissed her gently, as her fingers moved slowly around my chest. Every time her lips brushed mine, it felt like everything in the world was perfect.

"I'm going to have to go home to get ready," she said as she leaned back. "I'm pretty sure my bathing suit isn't proper attire."

"There is no way any of those men are ever going to see you in something like that," I muttered.

I was already so possessive. Nearly obsessed with this precious girl.

Funny: as much as I wanted to hide her away so that no man could look at her, I also wanted to show her off to the world. Not as a prize I had won, but so that she could sparkle.

Perhaps everything was happening too fast, but my feelings for Grace were a runaway train that could not be stopped.

I was already in love with her. I just had to find the right moment to tell her. Which should likely wait until I found out how Corbin reacted to the news that Grace and I were already a couple.
