“I swear, I will kick your ass for even thinking those things. Never mind you actually opening your mouth with that nasty question, you vile, evil son of a bitch. I’m going to kick you in the balls so hard they’ll have to wire your mouth shut to keep them inside your pathetic body… Let go of me, you assholes!” Lexi screams as Eric’s two friends each grab one of her arms, holding her back, so she can’t follow through with her threat. It figures none of these pussies have the balls to take on one little female. Of course, he needs his buddies to jump in.

Too bad none of these pussies notice me. I tap Eric on the shoulder, just one time, to get his undivided attention. The minute he turns to face me, I see the fear of God enter his eyes. I pull my arm back and swing, hitting him square in the jaw. My blow throws him two tables away, and he falls on his ass, not moving. I turn to the other douchebags as they both drop Lexi’s arms and hold their hands up in surrender.

Unfortunately, they should have been paying attention to one very pissed-off best friend instead of me. Lexi, seeing them distracted, swings one fist high in the air, bringing it down, straight into the balls of one of the guys. Then she turns to the other one and slams the heel of her boot onto his foot. As he folds double, she brings her fist around and clocks him dead in the eye. I need to remind myself to never get on Lexi’s bad side because she has one hell of a right hook.

“If you ever so much as look in my best friend’s direction again, it will be so much worse for you. You will never be able to stick your pencil dick into any unfortunate hole ever again. Do I make myself perfectly clear?” she asks the both of them, not even winded.

When they nod, Lexi grabs ahold of their bent heads and pushes, toppling them both to the ground. They get up slowly, trying to get as far away from Lexi as they can. I can’t say I blame them, not one bit. She’s a wildfire and, if it wasn’t for Rissa, I would probably stay clear, too. Lexi turns back to look at me, then looks over her shoulder at Eric, who’s still passed out on the floor.

“Do you think he’s dead?” she asks me with a shrug.

“Nope,” I say shortly. The hit was hard, but not hard enough to kill him.

“Pity,” she shrugs again, turning back to Rissa. I look down at her too and notice her eyes trained on me.

It’s then I realize she saw the whole confrontation go down. All I can think about is that it would kill me if she said she was afraid of me now. That’s the last thing I want. I know I’m from the other side of the tracks, with shitty parents, but it would tear my heart out if she were to turn her back on me. I won’t take any of my actions back; I know I was only protecting her, but can she accept me for who I am?
