“Thank you,” he said. “I’ll take my lunch in my office today.”

“I’ll arrange it.”

He took his finger off the intercom and leaned back in his chair. If he’d been denying it before, he realized more than ever Kayla would never be just a match. She was far more than he had ever anticipated.

Turning his chair, he gazed out the window and looked down at the busy Manhattan street, studying the people below. How many of them where in relationships? Married? Engaged? Happy? Was he really any different from the rest of society? Could he take this arrangement a step further? Would she be interested in that? Would he?

A few minutes before five-thirty,the doorbell to Julian’s penthouse rang. He’d just ordered dinner and arranged for it to arrive at seven. That would give him some time to discuss Kayla’s new job offer with her. He’d worked all afternoon setting up this opportunity for her and he hoped she wouldn’t give him a difficult time.

He placed his tablet on the foyer table before answering the door, trying to put Mr. Hampton out of his mind. That jerk was not only pushing himself on her, but he was married with a six-month-old son at home. Julian had been trying to control his rage most of the afternoon. It had taken all of his effort not to show up at that station today. If Julian had his way, Kayla would be out of that environment by next week. He just needed to persuade her.

He opened the door and grinned when he saw her standing there with her overnight bag slung over her shoulder. “Welcome to the weekend.” He took the bag from her and led her inside. “I hope you had a good day.”

“It’s much better now.”

He set her bag by the stairs and lifted her up, kissing her sweet lips, savoring her, taking his time. They had all weekend. “I’m glad you’re here.” He lowered her feet to the floor.

“Did you think you scared me away last night?”

“I was confident you’d return.” He took her hand, picked up her bag, and guided her up the stairs. “You’re a brave girl.”

“We’re going upstairs already?”

“Is that a problem for you?” He turned and stared at her. “When you come through that door, you’re at my mercy.”

“I’m not complaining.”

“I didn’t think so.” He continued up the stairs. “Dinner will be here in about an hour and a half. I’ve ordered from one of my favorite Italian restaurants.” He opened his bedroom door, placed her bag by the dresser, and led her to the bathroom. “I thought we could talk some more.”

“In the bathroom?” She crinkled her nose. “Whatever gets you off, I guess.”

“Funny.” He laughed at her sassy sense of humor. “I’d like you to join me in the shower. I have a feeling, once I strip away your clothes and get you under the water, you’ll open up to me. I have a few things I’d like to discuss, and I want to do it naked.” He reached behind her and gripped the zipper on her dress. “Give me a color.”

“Green.” She turned and lifted her hair for him. “I’d love to shower with you.”

Julian kissedthe base of Kayla’s neck before lowering her zipper. “How was your day?” He traced his finger down her spine before taking the dress from her shoulders.

“It was okay.” She slipped out of her heels, turning to face him. “How was yours?”

“Eventful, informative, and productive.”

“Why doesn’t that surprise me?”

“I’m glad to be home with you.” He removed his shirt and undid his pants. His feet were already bare. “Do you have anything you’d like to discuss about last night?”

“Oh, that.” She frowned because she had been embarrassed about it all day.

“What is it?” He put the multiple showerheads on. “You need to be open with me.”

“What happened in the room when you punished me wasn’t a problem for me.” She wasn’t embarrassed about the spanking. That was erotic on many levels, even if it wasn’t meant to be.

“I’ll only give you what you can handle.”

He got rid of his pants quickly, standing naked before her. When she took in his muscular body, she’d lost her thought process. Now all she wanted to do was drop to her knees and take him in her mouth.
