Sneaky bastard. He had me there. And I hadn’t wanted to turn down the car to be honest. I’ve never had a new car in my life.

Today, we’re up before dawn, hustling children downstairs for a quick bite and to say goodbye to everyone before Dan drives us to the airport. The way we work in tandem handling the sleepy grumps? We're a well-oiled machine.

The only hard part? Marilyn isn’t joining us as the flight and new location seemed like a lot to dump on a dog this soon after she’s moved in. So, Grayson volunteered to stay at the house for a few days – Marilyn is a perfect lady and she’s taken to every Wolfe she’s met so far - to help the staff and give our good girl plenty of exercise and loving pats.

Aboard the plane, Theo’s got Jill cradled against his side, her eyes wide. This is her first flight that she’ll remember. Ryder’s eagerly staring out the window but he’s only seeing lights from the tower and runway.

“I could’ve used Marilyn’s company for take-off,” I quietly say as the private jet’s engines roar to life. It’s one part of traveling I’ve not been looking forward to.

“My ears aren’t silky-soft like hers but you can rub them if you want.”

I laugh at Theo’s offer but Jill pipes up. “Hold her hand like you’re holding mine, Daddy. You’ll feel better if you let Daddy hold your hand, Ms. Quinn. I always do.”

Her innocent and sweet offer warms my heart but my cheeks feel warm for other reasons as Theo gives me that crooked grin of his. “May I hold your hand while we take off, Ms. Quinn?” he asks with formal gentility for the sake of the little girl watching.

“You may, Mr. Wolfe.”

My hand, my heart. Same difference.

29-Quinn

“How could anyone have a place like this and never come here?!” I’m absolutely shocked, more like infuriated to think of this beautiful house sitting idle. The more I see, the more I never want to leave.

“Dad’s always working and Mom doesn’t want to come by herself. You like it?”

I roll my eyes at Theo’s ridiculous question as he’s rolling my suitcase in and then notice he’s alone. “Where are the kids?”

“Getting settled. Do you like your room?”

“Are you kidding? What’s not to like? It’s absolutely gorgeous!”

I’ve never seen anything this luxurious in my life except in the movies. Even those wouldn’t do this suite with its four-poster, canopy bed, Italian marble floors and spectacular floor-to-ceiling view of paradise total justice.

“Are you sure you wouldn’t want your kids to learn Spanish fluently? Give me a year or two living here…”

He chuckles and moves towards me, shaking his head. “Sorry to say I’m going to require all three of you in Illinois most of the time until I can run away and stay here, too.”

I sigh dramatically to make him laugh but excitement’s racing through me at his nearness. Between the kids, the dog and Christmas, we’ve missed having much alone time lately and I’m hungry for his touch. I sigh again but without drama when his arms loop around my waist.

“Is this the master suite?” I ask curiously of the room Theo’s chosen for me.

“No,” he says, resting his chin on top of my head with his hand idly caressing my hip. “Mine’s right through there.” He glances towards the walk-in closet.

“Um… that’s a closet.”

“I know.”

Curious, I walk over and step inside. “There’s a door in the back of this closet.”

“Funny that. It doesn’t lead to Narnia though.”

He’s behind me now, holding me close, back to front this time, and he’s… I grin. “Why does my closet have two doors? And somebody’s been missing me.”

He grinds his erection against me and I rear back in reply. “Yes, I have. Very, very much. That door, by the way, will take you into my walk-in closet which leads to my bedroom. Convenient, huh?”

“That’s positively scandalous,” I gasp, which makes him laugh again. I intend to make him laugh as much as possible during this get-away. “Did the builder want people to carry on with discreet affairs that way, you think?”

“I don’t know but I figured it’d be discreet enough for us once the children are tucked in.” His front is still pressed against my back, he tips my head to the side and leans around, claiming my mouth for a sensuous and lingering kiss. “Mmm… just as sweet as the night we met.”
