I promised to keep her safe, and I intend to do just that.
I roar, my voice snapping me back to reality as my eyes fly open. My eyes locking on Evi, I throw all my power against the chains keeping me bound, but nothing happens.
My breathing heavy, I try again and again until I finally give up.
Lying back among the ash, I close my eyes in frustration.
I’ve failed her. Yet again.
“I’m sorry, Evi.”
The next moment, I look up as the hem of Evi’s dress brushes over my skin and she lowers herself to straddle me again.
“I forgive you, Luci,” she says, lifting her skirts to pull her underwear aside as she shifts her hips back. I watch her grimace as she does her best to push herself down over me.
I don’t remember getting hard, but I couldn’t care less how it happened.
“Lean forward on me,” I say as Evi finds it difficult to take me in my entirety.
She does as I say, and I begin to pitch my hips against her. A groan escapes me as I feel her slowly stretching to take more of me as her excitement grows.
“Damn, you feel amazing,” I breathe. “It’s been so long since …” I trail off, shaking the thoughts from my head. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have—”
“You don’t have to be sorry for loving Anna,” Evi says. “I understand.”
I shake my head, a soft snort escaping me.
“I don’t deserve you.”
“And yet, I’m here,” she says with a soft smile, and my heart sings as it finds a new reason to beat.

Luci sits up, the chains pulling free with so little effort that he doesn’t even seem to notice as he reaches for me.
Catching my lips with his, he kisses me with such fervor that he nearly steals my breath away. He wraps my legs around him, cradling my hips in his hands as he works me up and down over him until we’re both panting and hungry for release.
“I need you, Evi,” Luci whispers, meeting my gaze as he quickens his pace. “Finish with me.”
I nod, my own breathing too strained to speak as he thrusts harder into me, his eyes never leaving my face. My fingernails suddenly dig into Luci’s back, my eyes widening as I suddenly feel an overwhelming sense of knowing just before a cataclysmic shockwave of ecstasy ripples through me.
Our bond snaps into place, the agony of heartbreak washing over me before being dragged away into the depths of a new ocean of love as Luci fills me with everything he has.
We don’t move as we ride our pleasure out, finally collapsing back, covered in ash and soot as Luci’s face slowly breaks into a smile.
Glancing down at me as I lie on his chest, he bends to kiss the top of my head.
“I swear, I’ll do better next time.”
“We have our whole lifetimes ahead of us,” I tease, my voice a whisper against his chest, and my heart sinking again at the thought. I sit up, concern suddenly overtaking me.
“What’s wrong?” Luci asks.
“I’m so sorry.”
“Sorry? For what?”
