My phone pings with a new message.
Cali: I had to intercept Alex again.
Me: Just admit you want to fuck him.
Cali: Eww, gross!
“How is your second day so far? No high school drama?” Brenda asks on our way to lunch. I’m finally starting to get the hang of the school layout, at least how to find my way to the cafeteria.
I type out a response to Cali and shake my head. “Don’t jinx it! There is still plenty of time for drama.”
“That’s true,” Brenda agrees. Her unruly hair is bigger than usual today. “Have you seen any cute boys yet?”
I turn and walk backward, which is dangerous in these packed hallways, but I live for danger. “I have a boyfriend.”
“So? You can still find other boys cute.”
“I’m not looking.”
She cringes when I bump into a female student. It was bound to happen eventually.
“What’s it like living with Zayd?”
I help the girl pick up the pens that fell out of her pencil case. It’s on my tongue to tell her to zip it up, but I keep my mouth shut. When I rise to my feet, Brenda looks at me expectantly. “What?”
She rolls her eyes. “I asked what it’s like to live with Zayd? What is he like?”
I quirk a brow. “Why do you ask?”
Her cheeks flush, and she hurries to explain, “I didn’t mean it like that. I don’t like him or anything.”
“Right,” I tease as we start walking again. The garish yellow doors to the cafeteria are up ahead. My stomach growls on cue.
“I don’t! I’m just curious… He’s the most popular boy at school.” She looks adorably uncomfortable.
“I’ve only lived with him for two days.” And so far, he’s been a complete dick who photographed me naked in my sleep, but I don’t tell her that. “What do you want to know? What cereal he eats? The TV shows he watches?”
“No,” she replies, her cheeks flaming.
“I’m teasing you!” I playfully nudge her shoulder with mine. “The first night, he fucked Legacy until the early hours. They weren’t quiet, if you know what I mean? Then yesterday, he went back out after dropping me off.”
This morning, I woke up next to him. Shirtless. The mere thought makes me want to growl.
“You heard him fuck?”
I pull a face. “All night!”
“I don’t know if that’s hot or disturbing.”
“Definitely the latter,” I reply as we enter the bustling cafeteria. It seems we are the last ones here.
“Oh god!” Brenda says, her eyes widening.
My brows knit together, and I search the room. “What?”
“Don’t look. Just pretend you didn’t see anything.”
“What are you talking about?”
