Me: I’m here.
My phone pings.
Cali: That room is so not you!
I chuckle and walk back to the bed as I type out a reply.
Me: Tell me about it. I’ll have to dye my hair to match the walls.
Next, I type out a text to Bennett.
Me: I arrived. I miss you already!
I sink down on the edge of the mattress and stare at myself in the vanity mirror opposite. My blonde hair still bears evidence of Bennett’s passion earlier when he fisted it in his hands. It doesn’t matter how much I brush it—it has a kink to it now, waves that turn into curls. There’s a beard rash along my jaw too. The mirror is too far away to make it out, but I can feel it when I brush my fingers over my skin.
“Welcome to your new home, Remi,” I whisper as I fall back on the bed. Hopefully, Ariana will keep my father occupied.
I doze off, exhausted from the day’s events.
