He weighs more than Scott and Jared, but it’s all muscle.

“What are you doing, Rick?”

“I’m looking at you,” he replies, his eyes on my lips.

His hands are by my head, and mine clutch his soaking wet letterman jacket. Raindrops fall from his lips onto mine.

“I want to kiss you,” he whispers so quietly that it’s almost drowned out by the sound of rain.

“Don’t!”

He shifts his weight on top of me to lean on one elbow, then runs his fingers down my face and over my lips.

Tears blur my vision. I feel too tainted for the admiration I see in his hazel eyes.

“Don’t,” I whisper again, pleading with my eyes.

He pushes off me and gets to his feet, burying his hands in his wet hair. “Jesus fuck!”

His cock strains in his jeans.

I stand up and brush off the sand as best as I can, but I’m smearing it around.

The sky lights up with a flash. It’s soon followed by rolling thunder.

I stare up at the dark clouds. “We should get away from the lake and trees.”

He lowers his hands. “Yeah…”

We hurry over to the parked cars. As I open the driver’s door, he clears his throat behind me. I look over my shoulder.

“I’ll see you around, Selina.”

I smile softly. “Take care of yourself, Bruce.”

He gets in and starts the car. His growling engine drowns out the thunder in the distance as I watch him reverse out and perform a U-turn. Then he’s gone, his taillights fading in the distance.

Another flash startles me. I get in the car and pull the door shut.

I can still remember the longing in his eyes and feel his weight on top of me.

“What the fuck am I doing?” I whisper as I slide my wet hands down the wheel. Leaning back against the headrest, I stare at the stained roof.

I reach up and stick my finger inside a cigarette burn. “I can’t be the reason for Rick losing his chance at college football.”

I start the engine and hightail it out of there, my lips tingling from our almost kiss.
