“What’s up?”
 
 “I need you at Monster Mini Golf.”
 
 “What happened?”
 
 “Vampires attacked. One dead human, three dead vamps.” I look at Deissy who’s unconscious. “Do you know a Felix? He’s an officer here in Billings.”
 
 “I know of him,” she explains. “He’s fairly new.”
 
 “Find a way to bring him, too. His fiancé is here.”
 
 “We’re on our way.” She ends the call, so I shove the phone back into my pocket and run both hands over my face.
 
 “He was the same one who was following Winnie,” I tell her as I gesture to the vampire whose throat I ripped out.
 
 “You’re sure?”
 
 “He admitted as much.”
 
 “Why are they attacking like this?”
 
 “Because of us,” I tell her, sincerely. We knew something like this might happen given the forbidden aspect of our relationship, though honestly, I thought we’d have a bit more time.
 
 Apparently, I was wrong.
