My mind went blank until the sound of my harsh breathing cut through the haze.
“Christ,” I hissed, pumping my dick one last time and shuddering.
Fuck, I needed that. Needed the release since the moment Penny stepped into my apartment. Jerking off had been a long time coming, even if it had only been a few days.
Finishing up my shower, I retied the discarded towel around my waist and strode into the kitchen as if nothing kinky had gone down. I hit the stairs when Penny’s door opened, and she looked as breathless as I felt.
“I’m just going to take a quick shower,” she murmured.
“Knock yourself out,” I drawled.
Our eyes snagged on her way past. An awkward beat passed, and if my expression was anything like hers, we both looked as guilty as sin.
“Would you like some coffee?” I called as she hurried down the stairs.
Penny reached for the door separating the bathroom and laundry area from the kitchen.
“Uh, sure. I won’t be long.”
I didn’t shut the bedroom door behind me as I dropped the towel. Old habits died hard in this bachelor pad. Even on deployment, the boys and I had no shame.
Applying deodorant, then pulling on jeans and a white crew-neck, I considered how inappropriate it was jerking off to Penny masturbating. I was sure that went against every single rule at Cole Security. Actually, I was positive that rule hadn’t even been written yet, but I’d broken it anyway.
Cursing to myself for having yet another reason to not look Penny’s mother in the eye, I jogged downstairs. I was sitting at the kitchen island sipping my coffee by the time Penny emerged from her shower.
“Fresh?” I asked.
Her grin made my heart give a double-kick. “Nothing better than rising early, hitting the gym, then having a freshly-brewed coffee after a hot shower.”
I snorted as I mentally addedindulging in a masturbationsessionto her description.
“You can hardly say youhit the gym,Penny.”
She gave me a sassy pout and plucked the second mug off the counter. “I was there.”
“In body, yes, but not mind or spirit.”
“Whatevs.” She absentmindedly looked around the apartment. “So, what are we doing today?”
“Dunno. I guess we could go somewhere if you want?”
“Like where?”
I shrugged. “I’m an active relaxer. Maybe a hike or something?”
She all but threw up in her mouth. “Ergh, hiking!”
“Yes, hiking.”
Our impending argument was cut short by my cellphone ringing. It was only eight-thirty in the morning, so Jackson’s call meant business.
“Yo, Muff. Everything okay?” I answered.
“Hey, man. Not really. I need you to come in this morning. I’ve arrived at work to find an email.”
“Another?”
I shot a glance at Penny, who listened in, then moved to the outside balcony and slid the door closed behind me.
