Page 98 of Love Triggered

“Greyson!” Lya screams this time, getting my attention. “Please, please, please go save them. I know you don’t have a good relationship with them, but Lainey does, and she’d want you to go back in there.”

I know I shouldn’t care about whether they make it out alive, considering they’ve shot me, kidnapped me, and tortured me—though I know firsthand that these terrible acts don’t necessarily make them terrible people. It’d be so easy to just walk away and leave them in there, especially Rian, but I won’t do that. No matter how much we hate each other, I won’t let them die in this building. My father might’ve made me into the devil, but I know when evil deserves punishment. And it’s not deserved here.

“I’ll be back,” I tell her, as I sprint back into the building. It’s so damn smoky in here, I can barely see two feet in front of me. Parts of the walls are crumbling down as the flames lick higher up the walls.

In the short time I was outside, more of the ceiling has fallen, causing the path to become uneven. I can still make it to the guys, but it’s going to take me a little longer to get there. I step over as much of the concrete as I can, having to climb some. The flames are getting dangerously close to caving the roof in on us.

Finally making it past the rubble and flames, I cut the three assholes free and help them stagger to their feet. The entire building is shaking as everything starts to fall around us. We probably have two minutes before this building takes us down with it.

Zep’s looking especially unsteady, so I sling his arm over my shoulder, gripping his waist hard. “We’ve got to go! This place is about to go down and I’d rather be on the outside,” I yell as best as I can, but my voice is raspy. My throat feels like it’s about to close over. “Rian and Thiago, help each other. I’ll get Zep out. Now!”

They grunt in acknowledgement and start moving in the direction I’m pointing. Inside, I’m starting to panic, though I know that won’t get us outside any faster. Rian and Thiago make their way toward the exit while I wait for Zep, who’s doubled over, having a coughing fit. His weak body goes hurtling toward the ground, but surprisingly I’m quick enough to catch him.Jesus, this fucker is heavy. With Zep in tow, I slowly make my way back to the door.

Only ten more steps. Ten more steps, then we go get my girl.

Debris comes down, smacking my shoulder, but I block out the burning pain.

Finally, we push past the threshold, and I suck in a huge gasp of fresh air.We made it.

As soon as we stumble outside, the building collapses. We were only seconds away from being trapped and burned alive. All three guys run as best as they can toward Lya, almost trampling her with hugs and kisses.

I wish I could kiss Lainey right now.

All the memories come flooding back. Lee fucking Davis had told Sutton I wasn’t in the business anymore, so he knew to come came prepared. He blindsided us all. Knocking me out, blowing up the building, and takingmy girl.

I’ll kill that fucker.

If he lays a hand on her, I’ll cut off every single finger that touches her precious skin.

Rage boils through my veins and I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold back my fury until she’s back in my arms.

Pulling out my now cracked phone, I dial Sutton’s number which I got from that piece of shit Lee Davis. He answers on the second ring, but I don’t give him a chance to speak.

“Listen here, fucker. If you fucking lay a hand on her, you’ll regret the day you were ever born.”

His arrogant chuckle comes through the speaker. “Well, well, well. I should’ve put a bullet through your head when I had the chance.”

“Yeah, you should’ve. Because now I won’t stop until I have my girl back.”

“On second thought, it’ll be fun ruining her, knowing that you’ll be thinking about it. I’ll make her take my dick so many times in all her different holes. She won’t be the same girl when I’m done with her. Hell, she probably won’t even want you when I’m done—that is, if she survives. She’s going to love taking every inch of my cock,” he threatens.

The thought of him touching her makes me fucking sick.

“I’m coming for my girl, so you better get ready to die,” I tell him, hanging up the phone. I don’t care about hearing what he has to say back.

I’m going to get Lainey and I’m not waiting.

Sutton better be ready. The devil just escaped from Hell, and he’s coming to claim his angel.

I skidLya’s Audi to a stop in front of the Cherry Hill house. I’m still lightheaded from the fire, but nothing is going to get in my way of being reunited with Lainey. It only took me half the time it should’ve to get here, but the speed limit was the last thing on my mind.

Sweat pours down my body, still feeling the heat from the fire, and my singed blazer is restricting my movement so I slide it off, throwing it onto the passenger seat. Grabbing a gun from the glovebox, I take off toward the house, ready to take Sutton out. The others jump out of the G-Wagon behind me.

“Greyson!”

“Stop!”
