“Are you just friends?” The anticipation of the answer twists my guts up so much I can’t even breathe.

“Are you jealous, Blais?” she teases, which pisses me off. She’s ours. There’s no way in hell we’re letting anyone else have her. Even if her and this Matt guy were together before this, she is ours and ours only.

“No, darling. I’m rich, handsome, and have a big cock. What would I have to be jealous of?”

She laughs, the throaty sound calming me down. “Okay, tough guy, you can get off your high horse. Matt is just a friend. Our relationship is completely platonic. Promise.”

Yeah, right. I’m a guy and I know how guys work. I don’t even know Matt, and I can bet he’s been dreaming about sinking his dick into her since the second he saw her. With a woman as fierce and gorgeous as her, there’s no way he hasn’t wanted to get in her pants.

“What about you? Do you guys have any other friends or family?” Her question pulls at my heart.

“Nah, it’s just us. We have people that work for us, but we pay them so I don’t think we can call them friends. Theon’s parents are dead. My mom is… She might as well be dead. Ace’s parents…well, he told you we killed his father.” Zamira perks up at my last words. She’s definitely hoping to get a little piece of Ace’s past. Shit, I’ve messed up. This isn’t my story to tell.

“Why would Ace want to kill his father?” Her curious voice cuts through the silence.

“Sorry, darling. You’ll have to ask Ace about that. But what I was trying to say is, no, we don’t have anyone else. The three of us are a family. We’ll do anything to protect each other, and we don’t keep secrets from one another.”

Zamira quickly looks away, avoiding eye contact like she knows something I don’t.

“Well, that wasn’t suspicious at all,” I say sarcastically. “What is it, darling? What has you looking all guilty?”

She clears her throat, turning her attention back to me. “Nothing, I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed by all of this.” She pulls the blanket up to her shoulders and yawns. “I think I just need to sleep it off.”

I know she’s avoiding the topic, but I let it go. Today’s been fucking amazing and I don’t want anything to ruin it.

“Goodnight, darling.”

Rolling onto my back, I close my eyes, and listen to Zamira’s soft breaths. “Hey, Blais?”

“Yeah?”

“I want to try something…”

Cracking open my eye, I give her the side eye. “What is it?”

She sits up, the blanket falling off and revealing her naked body. Fuck, I like this already. “I know trust doesn’t come easy for you, but I think this might be able to help you. I mean, us.”

Color me intrigued. What is going through her gorgeous head?

“If you tell me to stop at any time, I will. I don’t want to hurt you, Blais. I just thought this might work. Can I… do it?”

Well, this doesn’t sound like the sexy time I had in my mind. The fact that she had to tell me she didn’t want to hurt me, says that whatever she has in mind isn’t good. She’s had chances to hurt me before, but she hasn’t. The sincere look in her baby blues makes me want to give into whatever plan she has going through her head.

“Do it.”

Scooting closer to me, she stares into my eyes, checking one last time that I’m okay with this. I nod, assuring her about my decision.

“Close your eyes.”

I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart, then follow her command, letting the darkness takeover.

“I’m going to touch you, okay?”

Fuck, what is she doing? My brain already wants to reject this idea. She hasn’t even touched me yet and my skin feels like it’s crawling. The time right before the shower was almost enough to send me over the edge; I’m not sure I can take any more.

Blais, it’s all in your head. She won’t hurt you. She wants to help you.

“Okay,” I whisper.
