Page 23 of Love in Sight

Greyson’s hand grabs mine and I stop breathing completely.

“Don’t leave.” He pulls me back down to my seat. “I just need to process this. It’s a lot to take in.”

“Okay.” It’s the only thing I can say as the anticipation of his next words weighs on my whole body. Why did I think this was a good idea? I’m just making myself look like an idiot at this point.

“Lya, you’re smart, strong, and beautiful. I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to get to know you, but I’ve never imagined myself as the sharing type when it comes to women.”

I let out a soft laugh. “The guys thought the same thing. They finally decided to give up their egos for happiness.”

“What if my ego is stubborn?” he scoffs.

I place my hand on top of his. “Tell your ego to get to know me before he totally dismisses the idea.”

Greyson chuckles. “He might be up for that.”

“Want to get out of here and do something fun?” I ask, with a glimmer of hope. Maybe if we spend time together and he gets to know me more he’ll be more into the idea of sharing.

“What are you thinking?”

“Putt putt.” I grin.

“Lead the way.”

Greyson’s silverAston Martin pulls into the parking lot of Putt Putt Planet and my eyes light up in anticipation.

“I love putt putt!”

“I hope you’re patient enough for this newbie, because I’ve actually never been.” His declaration pulls me out of my excited thoughts.

“Are you serious? Never?” I gasp as he pulls into the parking space.

“My dad was all business, all the time. We never went out to do anything fun.” His stone face breaks into a slight frown. The thought of him having a shitty childhood breaks my heart.

I slide my palm into his. “I’m sorry, Greyson.” The stroke of my thumb over his seems to bring him out of his head. “My mom worked all the time to keep a roof over our heads, but probably twice a year she would bring my sister and I here for the day.” Talking about my mom and sister makes me feel I’m missing a part of myself. I don’t want thinking about Lainey to ruin our day, because I really want to get to know Greyson.

A quick look of uncertainty flashes across his face before it’s replaced with a smug smirk. “Show me what I’ve been missing.” He throws me a wink before climbing out of the car.

We walk up to the counter. “Hello, two for the full course please,” I greet the young woman working the cash register.

“That’ll be twenty dollars. Clubs, balls, and score cards are over to your right,” she explains as she points toward the clubs hanging from the wall.

I reach for the cash in my pocket, but Greyson stops me. “I’ve got it.” His tone makes me think he’s not offering to be nice, but to show that he’s the alpha.

I shake my head. “My treat, newbie.” I push him out of the way with my hip and hand a twenty dollar bill to the cashier.

“Have a great time,” she smiles, as she hands me the receipt.

“Ready to get your ass beat?” I playfully smack his chest with the back of my hand as we grab our clubs.

“It might be my first time, but I’m a quick study so don’t count me out yet.”

“We’ll see.”

Greyson was right about being a quick study. The hardest part was teaching him how to read the green, but I only had to show him the ropes once. By the fourth hole, he was putting like a pro. We’re tied approaching hole eighteen.

He lines up for his putt and I can’t help but gawk at him. Before today, I’d only ever seen him in designer suits, but I’d rather see him in jeans and a t-shirt every day of my life. The way those jeans hug his ass and the shirt forms to his muscular body is breathtaking. Greyson is stunning.
