I nod and give him a sheepish smile.
“Like, you’re dating all three?”
“Yeah, you actually met them at the office the other day.” I clench my jaw and give him an anxious smile. Now he knows that I lied to him that day in the office...
“Those three? Hmm, that explains why they all looked like they wanted to cut my head off,” he says in realization as he leans back in his seat.
“Yeah… Sorry about that. I was scared to tell you then.”
“Why are you telling me this, Lya?”
“Well, I’ve felt this magnetic pull toward you since we met. I can’t really explain it, but I can feel it there. I might be wrong, but the way you tried to kiss me at Star of India makes me believe you feel something too.” I break his gaze so it won’t hurt so much when he delivers his rejection. I don’t know if I’ll be able to hear his response over the sound of my pulse ringing in my ears.
“How does that work exactly?”
“They each have a piece of my heart and we’re a team. I know that it’s not conventional, but we make it work,” I explain.
“How did you all get together?” I’m used to people asking fifty questions when they find out about our relationship, but I feel like Greyson is giving me the third degree, considering his eyes look like they are trying to burn a hole in my skull.
I dry my sweaty palms on my jeans as I try to regain my composure. “I met Zep and Thiago in college. They were already best friends. It started as a war between us, but eventually I fell head over heels for them. Rian came into the picture a year later. It took Zep and Thiago a while to accept that I loved Rian too, but they caved when they realized that including Rian would make me happy.”
The air around us grows thick. Greyson’s gaze stops on the table for a few moments. His mind is probably full of questions he wants to ask. I’m at a loss for words at this point and it feels like an eternity before Greyson speaks.
“Lya, why am I here?”
“The pull I feel towards you is the same way I felt about the guys when I met them. I want to get to know you,” I rush out. “I mean, if you want that.”
“You want me to be one of four men in your life?”
“I want to spend time with you and get to know you, and if something comes of it then yes. If you want.”
His expression turns serious. “Do you fuck all of them?”
“I don’t think that’s any of your business!” Shock from his unexpected and straightforward question ripples through me.
“I think it is my business if you want me to consider your proposition, Lya.” Irritation seethes through his eyes.
He’s right. It would be wrong to ask him to become a part of this and not give him all the details. He deserves to know whatever he wants to make his decision.
“You’re right. I sleep with all of them, but they only sleep with me.”
“You’re telling me that you aren’t loyal to one of them, but they are all faithful to you?”
Okay, that was crass. I am fucking loyal to a fault for my guys. He might not see it that way, but no one on the outside ever does. I let out a steady sigh. “Partly. I might be with all three of them, but I’m just as devoted to them as they are to me. I would never mess around behind their backs. They’re already in an unconventional situation so they at least deserve that from me.”
“You will eventually pick one, right?” he questions.
At this point, it feels like I'm not giving him the answers he wants.
I shake my head. “No, I’ll never choose. They know that it’s all or nothing. They each own a piece of me.”
Greyson’s expression turns to anger then quickly changes back to his usual undisturbed expression. “You would expect me to share you with three men?”
“Uh, yeah...”
The look on his face and the energy radiating from his body tells me he’s not into this.
“If that’s a problem with you, then forget I said anything. We’ll just pretend this never happened.” I reach for my purse as I rise to leave. The thought of him rejecting me hurts me more than I thought it would. I need to get out of here before he sees how the rejection is affecting me.
