She looked down at her hands.
 
 “Off.”
 
 Walking away to the door, I tried to work out why she’d want to sit in darkness. She told me not to leave her in the dark before. Avery was a bit of an enigma. She wasn’t what I expected from a girl who’d grown up with every privilege imaginable.
 
 “Wait.”
 
 I paused in the doorway, turning slightly to look back at her.
 
 “What do I call you?”
 
 I smiled.
 
 “Aiden. You call me Aiden.”
