mean enough to fight her. I don’t want to get more lawyers

involved. I don’t want her to have to go to court over this. That

would mean that I care, and I don’t. I just thought it was crazy

that there could be a clause put into something that says I have

to be there at the same time as she is to sign the thing.”

“Well, maybe you don’t have to be in the same room.

Maybe you can be in different rooms. You’re still there at the

 same time then.”

“Yeah.” Quinn thought about that option while Danica

 looked on hopefully.

Billy just had to ruin that hope by being logical. “I don’t

think the lawyer would go for that. They’d probably think it

was against the will. They’re just there to execute what

Grampy wanted to the letter of the law.”

“Letter of the law?” Danica scoffed. “You’re not a lawyer!

What would you know about letter of the law?”

“I don’t know. I watch lots of court room shows and true

 crime. Sorry for living.”

“Okay, okay. Maybe I shouldn’t have called you here,”

Quinn started, wanting to calm her brother and sister down

before they got into an argument over the freaking law.

Neither of them were lawyers. Neither of them knew. Quinn

just needed their support. “First, I don’t want Mom and Dad to

know about this. They’ve never forgiven Dallas for breaking

up with me and leaving the next day. She didn’t say goodbye

to them and that left a foul taste in their mouths for more than

one reason. I don’t want them to know about it. I’ll just call

the lawyer back and say I’ll do it. I can go in and be calm and

 composed. It’s all good.”

“I think you should ask about the separate rooms,” Danica
