“But your ass too. That’s the main thing for you.”

“No,” Christina stated flatly. “That’s not the main thing. Look. Please

don’t give up on your idea now. Honestly, I wasn’t sure about it when I first

heard it, but, during the past couple of weeks, I’ve really come around to

seeing the merit of it. I’ve been getting pretty excited about it, and I never

get excited about ideas. I’m too practical for that. I don’t let emotion get

 involved.”

That surprised Taylor. She didn’t expect Christina would be so honest

with her. She admitted that hearing Christina say

 something positive about

her idea made her feel good about it. Knowing that someone else was

excited, however the funding came about, only fuelled Taylor’s desire to

make her idea a reality. She was so close. She had the funding. She had a

building she wanted. Could she really just give up in order to throw it back

 in someone else’s face?

She gnawed on her bottom lip and finally ripped her eyes off her boots.

They landed on Christina’s face. It was different. Christina had sharp,

gorgeous features, but all those angles seemed just a little softer. Even those

piercing eyes of hers looked like a normal shade of blue. She seemed more

human in that moment. Taylor inhaled sharply. She felt something tug at her

chest. Her belly did a flip flop. She realized that she was seeing Christina

like a different person. All that softness made her even more alluring, and

Taylor felt a moment of pure attraction that was so sharp her legs nearly

 gave out.

She spoke quickly, her voice sharp, just to distract herself. She tore her

eyes away and fastened them on something safe. The building. That was

safe. At least it was decidedly not Christina. “I know that it’s available for

immediate possession,” Taylor muttered. “The building. How fast do you

think I could take over? That is, if you approve it.” She had to tack on that

last bit, but Christina didn’t rise to the barb.
