Taylor got into her car too, but she had to just sit there for a minute and

give her brain time to catch up. She wasn’t thinking about all the tasks she

had to accomplish for the business. She wasn’t thinking about the building,

renovations, marketing, contacts, construction, shelters, lawyers, opening

 day— any of it.

She was trying to decode what Christina said to her right at the end.

Unfortunately, that just started her off on an entirely unwanted line of

thought. Was Christina really a lesbian? Was she available? What did it

Taylor stopped thinking. She reached for her seatbelt and clicked it into

place. She started the car and focused instead on her route back home. She

could think about the more complicated stuff— business stuff only— when

 she got there.

new trend. While Christina admired Taylor’s backbo

finally stand up for herself, she found it slightly annoying that Taylor

second guessed everything Christina said. During the week after finalizing

the purchase of the building, they clashed on just about everything. Even if

they were just having a conversation over the phone, or exchanging emails,

Taylor questioned everything, even the decisions she obviously agreed with.

Christina tried to keep focused on her work, since most days she still

had a packed schedule, but more and more often, she found her attention
