and she hadn’t felt like one of those in a very long time, if ever. Christina
sighed softly and wrapped her arm around Taylor’s shoulders.
“You’re probably going to say that you have to get dressed and leave,
but I don’t want you to go. I know that you can’t sleep here. You’ll be too
worried about Chloe, but please stay. The bed upstairs is huge. You can
borrow some pajamas from me.”
The hardest thing that Taylor had done was untangle her limbs from
Christina’s. She ran her finger over Christina’s overheated cheek. “Okay.”
“Okay?” Christina grinned. “That’s it? Just okay? No arguments?”
“No. It’s late. I don’t want to wake Chloe up and drag her home. I’ve
already let my dog out for the night. He always gets an evening walk and
sleeps through until morning. I’ll make sure that I’m back early to let him
out.”
“So, you’ll stay?”
Taylor did wish she could stay right there with Christina. It took all her
willpower to shift away. “Yes.” She was still overwhelmed by what had
happened and all the brand new, confusing emotions that accompanied it.
She wished that someone would have told her that fighting an attraction so
steadfastly could lead to this. To this incredible, brand-new feeling.
Yes, they still had a lot to work out. It made Taylor’s head hurt to think
about all the things they needed to say to each other, but it was late, and this
wasn’t the time to sit and have another full discussion. They could save that
for the next day. Or the next. Taylor knew that she’d see Christina in the
morning for work. She’d find a private moment to talk to her. She wanted
everything to be fine.
It was crazy. She thought that she’d felt so decidedly one way, but she’d
been so freaking blind. She actually felt the complete opposite. She’d been
lying to herself, masking her desire, covering for what she truly wanted and
needed. She never could have foreseen the explosive consequences of
