Attenthatsame morning, King left to discuss my heat with Harrison and Finn. He said not to worry and they would be here late that afternoon.

I left my room for a meeting with the Omega Island organisers. Something the omegas did every morning at ten o’clock, a discussion on how our time was, any numbers we wanted to add to our list, if we wanted to book any of the rooms.

Polly leaned into me, showing me a list with six numbers on it. “All new. I want fresh alphas.”

“Any requests for today?” Miss Trimble asked. She was the head organiser for the resort.

“I’d like to experience a real hunt today,” Polly said, handing over the list of numbers. “I want to run wild and be ravaged once I’m caught.”

I sighed because Polly was gorgeous, her looks were exotic and I also knew King’s number was one alpha on her list.

“We can have that organised for five this afternoon. You won’t want to run in the midday sun, especially as you’ve requested it to be done naked.”

“That way they won’t hesitate once they catch me, wondering if they are taking it too far,” Polly responded with a knowing raise of her shoulder.

“They’re alphas. They won’t worry about your clothes after chasing you through the fields,” a girl with red hair hissed and Beth laughed.

Jess raised her arm slowly, a tentative glance around the room. “Can I schedule a virtual room? I like the idea of the chase, but would prefer the safety of the room.”

Mrs Trimble nodded. “Do you have a wish... a secret desire that you would like to play out?”

Jen shrugged her shoulders.

I leaned into her and asked, “Who do you want to chase you? Alphas from this world, demons, wolves, pirates...” I kept pushing until Jess grinned.

“I want to be a mafia princess, running away from the head of four mafia organisations. Each wants me, but I can’t choose. In the room I don’t have to,” she said, glancing around at the other omegas around the table waiting for someone to say something or laugh at her.

“You need four alphas for the chase,” I whispered. “Do you have a list?”

Jess blushed a beautiful shade of pink. “Oh, yes.” She handed her list over to the organiser.

“Anyone else?”

“I’d like to watch Jess in the virtual room, but can I tentatively book for tomorrow?”

“Do you have a list?”

I shook my head. “I’ll give you the numbers tomorrow. I spent last night watching and deciding.”

Miss Trimble smiled and wrote my booking in her leather-bound diary.

Later that day, I watched Jess in the virtual room. Her hunt was exciting. She opted to believe she was the character and her fear was palpable. She really thought she was Delilah, the mafia daughter she acted. But with security surrounding the centre she was being hunted, she was safe among her alphas and it was delicious when they finally took her. I walked away at that point, not needing to see the rest.

Probably because my anxiety was heightening, my heat seemed to sit on top of a wall, hanging over the edge as it decided whether to jump into a full-blown need. But it happened like this, dangling over the edge and suddenly I would fall into the abyss.

This heat felt different, somewhat, but I still had to stick to my plan and hope that it would kick in with force.

I strolled to the chase field to watch Polly. Deep down, I knew it was to see if King acted on his primal instincts, the need to chase an omega on a hunt. At least I would understand if there was any truth to his words.

Polly was giggling and prancing around naked, well apart from her black mask and a long black tail that popped out of her arse and she enjoyed swishing.

Then I stared at each of the alphas, all standing in naked, masculine glory, grunting and snarling as they stood behind the white line, watching in frustration as Polly wiggled her arse and showed no signs of being a quaking omega.

I took another look at the line-up and smiled because King wasn’t taking part.

I waited for the buzzer to go, wanting to see Polly on her chase. She kept making brief glances back to the five alphas poised to hunt, giving them seductive looks as grunts and growls came from the pack.
