Damn hell!! She forgot my name? I lean at the door, crossing my arms.
“Aarav Raichand..” I remind.
“Yea.. that… Aaravvv..” she bites her lower lip in an attempt to stretch my name and I am hard!! Effing Hard. Though I like whatever she is doing here and came here for, I have to admit I am intensely mad at Jhanvi for risking her life and safety for me. She never drinks beyond her limits, today she did because of me.
Jhanvi is losing her balance. She is about to stumble, so I quickly try to hold her, but she pushes me off.
“Don’t. You have … lost that.. right.”
Her eyes are closing too. She’s going to pass out soon. I know.
“Okay,” I shout. “You are creating a scene here. Either come in or..”
“Or what?” She challenges.
Even a challenge cannot challenge me!!
“You have one second before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you home.”
“F***” She shuts her mouth with her palm, without dropping her gaze from mine. “You .. you always say such intense dialogues and I… I melt..” she pouts, taking off her palm from her mouth. “Not this time. This time I will speak and you will listen because you are wrong. You are … wrong.”
She draws a big cross mark in the air between us to show me I am wrong and I can’t help but smile. If her controlled form was cute, her semi-conscious form is sexy!! She loses her balance again, but this time I don’t let her push me away. I hold her firmly in my arms and she lets me do so. With puppy face, Jhanvi raises her chin and meets my eyes.
“Why Aarav? Why can’t you stop all this?”
Oh no. Not again. I am not interested in continuing that argument. Not now. Not here. Not when she is drunk. Jhanvi cups my face with trembling hands.
“Would you refuse to stop this revenge even if your mother had asked you to do so?”
My heart skips a beat.
“Will she be happy if you really end everything that belongs to the Raichands? Tell me…”
I gulp away the prick of tears formed in the back of my throat.
“You should come inside,” I insist, ignoring that conversation.
“No,” she fights back, struggling to set free. “I won’t come with you because you hurt me with your words today, Aarav. You will hurt me again.”
Damn! Why is she making this so difficult? I don’t let her go and she is too weak to continue fighting. Holding her face, I stroke her cheeks.
“I won’t hurt you, Jaan. I promise I won’t hurt you.”
“You won’t?” she happily asks, leaning into my body and smiling. “Then promise me you will think about it.”
I know what she wants me to think about. Jhanvi cups my face again and touches our foreheads.
“Promise me Aarav.. Please .. Promise me..”
With my wife this close and asking me for such a sensitive promise, I can’t even refuse her so it doesn't matter if I like it or not, I promise her.
“I promise,” I whisper, kissing her hair and the next instant, she wraps her arms around my neck and falls unconscious.
I lean down, pick her petite body in my arms, and carry her to my bed. She wriggles in my arms, but to get closer.
“You smell so good,” she mumbles, rubbing her nose on my neck. Keeping my control in check, I step into the bedroom and place her on the king-size bed. Though her eyes are shut, she isn’t really unconscious. Jhanvi keeps murmuring something as I adjust her head on the pillow. I am more than contented to have her on my bed but I don’t know how the rest of the night would be as my wife shows no interest in losing my touch. She’s fisted my shirt, not letting me detach from her.
I grab her fist and slowly untangle her fingers from my shirt. She whines in displeasure but gives up. I step away to decide what to do next. Her dress has bunched higher over her thighs, giving me enough view to turn hard. I look away and focus on the heeled sandals instead. They need to get off first. Unbuckling her sandals, I cover Jhanvi with the fluffy duvet and turn off the lamps so she gets some sleep.
