“God!! This woman.!! She’s so loud and scary. Now I see why she is still single for such a long period? How can a man tolerate her?” Aman wipes the sweat beads formed on his face while I simply shrug.

“None of this is my concern, Aman. All I care about is Jhanvi now. Ensure Jaya makes her eat once she wakes up as she has medicines to take.”

“One minute. You meanIhave to coordinate with Jaya?”

There’s worry and fear, both in Aman’s expressions.

“It’s Miss Parekh for you. Didn’t she say that?” I mock.

He rolls his eyes. “Yeah, whatever. I hope she is not going to make a fuss of taking Jhanvi along once she is awake.”

“As if I will let her do that. Jhanvi is no longer just her friend now. She is my wife, Aarav Raichand’s wife, and I am never letting her get away from me.. EVER.”

CHAPTER 12

Jhanvi

My head throbs as I open my eyes, seeing nothing but darkness around me.

“Jhanvi.”

The familiar voice forces me to blink rapidly, and I see the light again.

“Jaya,” I squeal with joy seeing my best friend sitting next to me on the bed. She helps me get up and the next instant I embrace her tight. “Thank God you came back. I needed you here.”

“I know.”

She keeps stroking my back as I tell her everything that happened at the party. How Aarav announced our marriage using the video, Daadi and Mohit’s disbelief in me and how they left me there alone. Suddenly, I realize not remembering anything beyond that and why am I in bed? I scan the room and have no clue who it belongs to, which scares me all the more.

“Where are we? Whose house is this?” I grip her arm tight.

Jaya soothes my worry by wiping away my tears first.

“We are in Aarav Raichand’s house,” she mentions.

I almost jerk at the mention of his name again. I am at AR Mansion? The same house where I met him first?

“Who? Who got me here? You? Why did you get me here Jaya?”

My anxiety levels kick in as I shrug off the quilt covering my body. I don’t want any of this luxury to touch me.

“Relax. Just calm down first. Breathe. Please.”

I breathe normally on Jaya’s persistence but don’t leave her hand. I want her to support me, which I know she will.

“Aarav brought you here after you fainted at the party.”

I tighten my hold on her hand.

“Take me back. Just take me back from here.”

The door opens, and a servant brings in the food trolley. My stomach churns seeing so many fruits and food organized on it. I don’t need food. I need to get away from Aarav Raichand.

“Keep it here,” Jaya commands him. The servant places the trolley beside the bed and leaves.

“Jaya, we should go.”

“No. You can’t leave until you eat. Look at you, Jhanvi. What have you done to yourself? You were never this weak both mentally and physically. I can’t take you out of this place until you eat and take the medicines.”
