Seth exhales, his heart tightening. “I love her. I love her so goddamn much, Luke.”
Saying the words aloud, admitting them to his brother, feels good. Feels right. So damn right. It’s like a weight lifted, an intention made clear. At least it’s one more secret he’s not keeping from Luke.
This time it’s Luke’s turn to blink. He rocks back on his boots, processing the news. His little brother, ever the bachelor, in love. A genuine smile crosses his face. “Really?”
“Really.”
“She know that?”
“Not yet.”
“Okay, then.” Luke’s smile fades, his face becoming serious. He levels a finger at Seth. “You gotta be the one to tell Sal. Not me.”
“I know,” he says, trying to rein in his guilt that Luke would think he’d put this on him. “We were waitin’ for the right time ...”
Luke raises dark brows. “Soon, Seth.”
“I will.” He meets his brother’s eyes. “She gonna kill me?”
“Honestly ...” Luke shakes his head grimly and Seth’s stomach sinks. “I ain’t sure.”
