WARREN

Should I have liked it so much when I watched Vladimir kiss Millie? As I heard the faintest gasp leave her lips, it tempted me to pull her into me, to outdo the kiss with my own. The feeling seemed to go against everything Millie explained about their relationship. There wasn’t supposed to be jealousy or petty behavior, but… I wasn’t jealous.

It felt more like a rivalry of friendly fire. When that fire was coming at each of us from different sides, it wasn’t a bad thing. It meant we all burned hotter, especially Millie.

Her dark eyes were alight when she came back from the foyer. I began to wonder what Caleb told her and how long he’d kissed her to put that flush of pink color in her lips and cheeks.

“So, what now?” I had to ask.

“Whatever you like,” she swore with a smile. “I’m all yours for tonight, no exceptions, no interruptions. The door’s locked, and my overnight bag is sitting in the foyer.”

“I guess you should go put it in the bedroom, then,” I replied.

“And would you like to show me there?”

God, how many times had I pictured this exact moment?

Millie, leaving her shoes in the living room, went and got her little duffle bag. She followed my footsteps down the hall, past the spare bedroom and my office. I was lucky my housekeeper had come the day before. As we stepped into the main suite, everything was clean, fresh, and ready to welcome Millie for the night. I clicked on the dresser’s lamp as she surveyed the room.

“It’s lovely, Warren,” she told me, letting her hands run along the foot of the bed.

She left her bag on the emerald chaise before moving to the window. Her hand gently brushed back the sheer curtain to take another look at the harbor below.

“I can see why you chose this place.”

“But why did you choose me?”

The question came out of me faster than I could think. Turning back to me, Millie let the white curtain fall back into place. Her whole expression softened.

“I didn’t choose any of you,” she answered. “Things just… happened. Our paths crossed. We felt a connection, and we weren’t foolish enough to let that go.”

Millie closed the distance between us. Her soft hands wrapped around my face.

“I can be selfish,” I told her, my throat growing dry. “I can be a fool.”

“We all can,” she murmured back. “Don’t worry, Warren. I’ll let you be selfish tonight. I won’t mind it one bit.”

Her eyes fluttered shut, and she sealed her promise with a kiss. Like that day in my office, her lips and her touch sparked something in me I didn’t know existed. The carnal desire burned hotter. It encouraged my lips to part and my tongue to find hers. Whatever reservations I held onto vanished. The lingering doubts I had disappeared like a puff of smoke, and I was only left with Millie.

Wrapped in a perfect candy apple red and with her hair pulled back, all I wanted was her. I wanted to taste every inch of her skin and let her hands rove my body. Vlad and Caleb could have her any other time.

Tonight, she was all mine.

“Tell me,” she murmured between kisses. “Tell me how you want me.”

“Oh, you don’t know?” I teased her. “I thought I was so obvious.”

The bulge growing in my jeans was a dead giveaway.

Millie laughed against my lips. “I know how you want this to end, baby, but how shall we begin?”

“Why don’t we start by getting rid of these damn clothes and see where it goes from there? I always think better naked, anyway.”

Another laugh bubbled out of her, this time throwing her head back as she beamed. It gave me free rein to kiss her neck and chest. Grabbing fistfuls of her skirt, I was beyond ready to peel that dress off of her. Millie let her arms shift. The dress went over her head, and at long last, I got to see the beauty that laid underneath. Her soft but full curves were dressed in deep gray lace, bringing out the pink tones of her skin and the warmth of her eyes.

I had to stop for a second, to drink it all in before I made a complete mess of this ravishing creature.

“I think it’s time we get these clothes off of you,” she murmured, already undoing the buttons of my shirt.
