“Nick and Elena are back.”

“What?”

“They’ve figured out that I’m in your apartment. They’re banging on the door.” Daisy’s voice was shaking. “I’m not answering it, but they’re getting louder, and I’m getting scared.”

Lee stiffened. He had figured that Nick and Elena would come back after what Daisy did, but not this soon. He looked at Keith.

“Can you make a detour to my apartment? There’s a disturbance happening.”

“Sure thing.” Keith dropped some bills on the counter and took the box. “Are you coming as well?”

“I’ll be a way behind you.” Lee went back to the call. “Daisy, my brother is here. He’s going to come by and get them to leave.”

“Okay. What about you?”

“I’ll be along as soon as I’ve got the bakery sorted. Just don’t open the door until Keith gets there.”

“Alright.” Daisy audibly swallowed. “I’m beginning to wish I hadn’t done this now.”

“Don’t be daft. You’re not the one in the wrong. Just hang tight, and we’ll be there as soon as possible.”

If Nick and Elena damaged the door, Lee was going to stick them with the bill.c
