Another car came into view and then two more joined the car, following us.

“Son of a bitch,” I heard Callum curse.

“What is it?” Jane sounded more worried.

“We gotta pull over.” Callum sounded pissed off.

“I will not pull over. What if...”

“It’s Lucio,” he interrupted me.

“Why is he following us? Can’t he just call you.” Nathan looked behind us again as two cars sped up to get in front of us.

“He called me in on Saturday,” Callum responded.

“Who is Lucio?” Jane asked.

“I will not stop the car for that fucker,” I snapped. Lucio was the last person Jane needed to meet and not to mention he was crazy as fuck.

“Pull over or it might get worse,” Callum growled out.

“Guys, who is following us?” Jane sounded scared at this point.

I looked into the rearview mirror and saw Callum face Jane. “I can’t explain now, but I will later, I promise. Aiden, pull over and let me get this over with.” Jane looked uneasy but shook her head.

“Aiden, just pull over. You know Cal is right. He might end up doing something really stupid and we all pay the price,” Nathan tried to reason with me.

“I better not regret this.” I pulled over and so did the two cars in front of us.

“Don’t get out of the car.” Callum unbuckled his seat, giving Jane a peck and got out of the car before I stopped completely.

“Son of a bitch. Nathan, check the glove compartment.” I always carried a gun in there and I wanted to be prepared for anything.

“Aiden, let’s not be rash.” He wasn’t a man of violence but more reason, and I hated that. I was always a shoot first, ask questions later kind of guy, but apparently that was the wrong thing to do most of the time.

“I don’t want to be caught off guard.” I rolled my eyes at him.

“Guys, why do I feel like something terrible is going to happen?” Jane scooted forward until she was almost in between Nathan and me. As she said this, ten people exited their cars, surrounding Cal, and Lucio walked up to him. Something bad was going to happen. I just hoped it didn’t involve Cal being hurt…. Too bad.

“I don’t want to give too much away, but Lucio is a dangerous man and is not someone you want to fuck with,” I said, not taking my eyes off of Lucio and Callum.

“Why is Callum involved with him?” Jane asked, leaning forward enough she was almost in the front seat.

“That’s his story babe and when he’s ready, he will tell you.” Nathan surprised me by not giving something away like he usually does.

Lucio looked at the truck and nodded his head towards us. I tensed at the action, trying to figure out what was his angle. Several men came towards us.

“Nathan, get the gun,” I said, never taking my eyes off the men.

“That’s a dumb idea. You’re going to get us killed. They clearly outnumbered us,” Nathan snapped at me. I could feel his glare on me.

“Guys.” Jane sounded really worried. “I think we just need to cooperate. We won’t be able to do shit when they are also surrounding Callum.”

“Fuck that.” I leaned over to the glove compartment but at that moment, they opened all of our doors at the same time. I felt hands grab me, pulling me out of the truck before I could reach for my gun. Nathan looked like he just stepped out, as did Jane. They were both fine just playing along, but there was no way I would allow them to hurt any of them.

I pushed away the asshole who had dragged me out of the car and glared at him. Lucio knew we had military training, but I don’t think his goons knew about it.

“Put another hand on me and don’t be surprised when I detach it from your body and beat you with it.” I didn’t wait for a reply when I walked towards Nathan and Jane. I stood on the other side of Jane, making sure we had her protected.
