“And a beer!” I heard Jane yell in the background.
I turned the truck on, backing out of the parking spot.
“About time you guys finally arrived. We can hit up Jake’s on the way back home. That way we can get a beer too.”
“Fuck yeah, that sounds good,” Callum agreed.
“Where are you guys at?” I asked, pulling out of the parking lot.
“We are at the very end of the pickup right before the terminal ends.” Callum sounded like he was moving.
“Ok, hopefully there is a spot there cause I’m not going around. I’m stopping and throwing your asses in the car.” I got into the lane to take me to the terminal.
It sounded like Jane was saying something as Callum laughed. “Jane says we can get a running start and throw ourselves in the truck's bed.”
Nathan chuckled. “Tell her my door will be open so she can jump in my lap, but Callum is on his own.”
Callum relayed the message, and we heard her laugh in the background. We pulled up to the terminal, passing all the cars to the end, where Jane was waving us down. There was just enough space for us to park. I disconnected the call and jumped out of the car with Nathan. Of course, Nathan went straight for Jane, picking her up in a big hug, making her laugh.
Callum rolled his eyes at Nathan as he gave me the luggage to put in the truck's bed. I smirked at his jealousy, knowing he was going to hate splitting her time with us. That was even if she agreed to this relationship. I put the last of the luggage in and put the tailgate up.
“I missed you too.” Jane hugged me from behind before she went to my side and opened the back door to get in. I couldn’t help but smirk like an idiot at her attention and at her forwardness.
I climbed into the truck, looking in the rearview mirror at Jane. She looked great as she laughed at whatever Nathan said.
“Let’s get the fuck out of here. I officially hate airports,” Callum whined as I pulled out of the terminal, making our way out of the airport.
“That was pretty brutal,” Jane agreed. “We got on two separate planes before we finally just changed airlines and got this flight. After the second plane, I swear someFinal Destinationshit was going to happen.”
“I’ve heard they have been having difficulties with certain plane models. They’ve had to recall two hundred planes.” Nathan turned to look at Callum and Jane in the back seat. “Glad you didn’t die on a recalled plane.” Jane laughed.
“Thanks asshole, I’m glad too,” Callum snapped at him, but I knew he was just playing.
“Sorry bro, you just don’t cuddle as good as Jane does.” Nathan laughed.
“I’m sure Callum would make a great small spoon.” Jane laughed too.
“Are you saying that from experience?” I couldn’t help myself but ask as I looked in the rear-view mirror at her.
A sly smile crossed her face as she shrugged. “Maybe I am.”
I smiled at her response, noticing she was a lot more forward with us. I glanced at Callum, and he looked at me like he knew what I was thinking. She was getting more comfortable with us. I felt Nathan look at us and knew he was also on the same page.
“I enjoy being the small spoon, so if you want to try it, let me know. I can definitely fit you into my schedule.” Nathan was laying it on thick. I pulled on to the one of the country roads making our way to Jake’s, which was just outside of Monroe. It was a little out of the way but had less traffic.
Nathan asked a few questions about the wedding as we continued to drive. It sounded boring, but she got to see family, so it sounded like it was worth it. Callum also seemed to like her family except her douchy brother, who apparently took advantage of her. It was normally a dead road, but I noticed a car who was turning at every turn we took. I took a U-turn just to see if they followed and sure enough they followed.
“Where are you going?” Nathan looked confused.
“They’ve been following us for about ten minutes,” Callum responded. “I would do another U-turn.” Callum turned around to look at the car.
“Who’s following us?” Jane sounded confused.
“We don’t know,” I said, making another U-turn.
“Should we call the cops?” Jane suggested, looking at the car who followed us again. They weren’t even trying to be discreet.
“This asshole clearly doesn’t know how to be stealthy.” Nathan was looking around at the car, too.
