Jane
Son of a bitch. I watched my husband’s ex Victoria walking through the ballroom like she was meant to be here. I swear not even after his passing could I get rid of her. She created a lot of problems for Henry and I; when we were dating, it was like she couldn’t take a hint that they were over. I even heard she showed up at our wedding, but thankfully I didn’t see her or hear about her until after the wedding.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I heard Madie yell over the music. “Why the fuck is she here?”
I knew why she was here, but I didn’t understand why she had to show up. You think after years of telling her to go fuck herself, she would get the hint. “She works with Paul,” I yelled at her. “He invited all of his office.”
“Why would he do that?” Sabrina asked, looking at Victoria with disgust.
I shrugged my shoulders, dancing away from having to look at her. This was the last time I saw her and thank god for that. I focused on the music, dancing away and trying not to think about her.
I felt someone behind me, and I turned around immediately, thinking it was Victoria. Callum had a glass of champagne, like he knew I needed more liquid courage to get through the night. I smiled at him. “Have I told you that you’re the best?” I said, getting closer to him.
He shook his head. “You could always show me later,” he said close to my ear, making me blush and instantly think of the kiss we had in our room. I felt a swoop in my stomach, making me want to kiss him again.
I took the glass from him and drank it in one go. “Are you hoping getting me drunk might work?”
“Trust me, I don’t need to get you drunk to get you into bed with me, not after that kiss we shared.” He smirked as he took the glass from me and went back to our table. I turned around to see Madie and Sabrina looking at me like they knew exactly what that exchange was about it.
“He’s very sexy,” Sabrina said as I danced again. “I didn’t peg you for a girl who liked so many tattoos, but I definitely see the appeal.”
“You should see Aiden, his boss, that man has a ton of tattoos, muscle, and I swear he can probably make you cum from his smolder.” Madie got closer to us to yell over the music.
I laughed because she was right. Looking at Aiden was like looking like sex on a stick. He had this intense look in his eyes and sometimes, it short fused my brain. Well, maybe a little more than just sometimes.
“Do you hang out with him, too?” Sabrina looked at me in shock.
“She gets to hang out with three of them, all sexy in their own way and definitely could have anyone of them or all of them.” Madie spoke for me.
“All three of them?” Sabrina’s eyes widened.
“Madie is delusional.” I rolled my eyes at her, but I thought of the day Nathaniel got drugged and the girl that was with him said she enjoyed being shared by all of them.
“Jane, do you have your own harem of men?” David entered the conversation.
“David!” I was in shock that he had been listening, making me blush.
“Wow Jane, I mean if they all like you and everyone is mutual about it, it’s not the first time I’m hearing about a throuple or quad relationship. Times are changing. Why not go with the flow?” Sabrina looked completely serious.
“Guys! We are friends and not in a relationship.” I felt myself getting more and more embarrassed.
“Not yet.” Madie wiggled her eyebrows suggestively while Sabrina and David laughed. “It might not be a bad thing to sample the life.”
“You’re incorrigible.” I rolled my eyes at her. “I’m getting tired, and I need a drink.” I walked off, seeing Callum at the bar with Matthew and I saw Victoria making her way to the bar too. Fuck my life. This woman was going to haunt me for the rest of my life.
“All right ladies and gentlemen, the grooms are going to cut the cake now. If you would like a picture, make your way over to the cake table.” The music stopped, and the lights got brighter. I tried to ignore Victoria as I walked up to the guys who were talking about the Marines.
“Hey guys.” I smiled a little too forcefully.
“Just in time.” Callum handed me another glass of champagne and a bottle of sparkling water.
“Oh yes, you’re the best.” I took the water and champagne as they got the rest of the drinks. We walked back to the table as I felt Victoria staring at us. Or maybe I was paranoid, and she wasn’t staring, but she always had a problem with me.
“Can’t believe he invited her, Jane; he should know better.” Matthew looked furious, and I appreciated it.
I shrugged like I didn’t care, but I knew he knew better than that. She’s been a thorn in my side for years. We arrived back at the table as the grooms cut the cake, and everyone took pictures. I swear that cake did not look like it was three grand, but I knew better than to start shit today, and I was over all the shit with Paul.
Paul looked thrilled, soaking in all the attention he loved. Both looked happy, even though I hated Paul a little right now. I was happy he was happy, and he finally found someone to share his life with.
