“Dude, you didn’t have to do that.” JD picked up the keys and smiled at Katherine.
“Thank God! I was regretting telling you not to get a room.” She got up and gave me a hug. “It peeved me he didn’t charge you, but I guess this definitely makes up for it. Thank you,” she whispered in my ear.
“You’re welcome,” I said as she let go of me, but she was too busy looking behind me.
“What the fuck is that bitch doing here?” Katherine all but growled.
“Oh, fucking hell.” Matthew looked pissed, too.
I turned around to see who they were talking about and spotted a woman walking through the ballroom. “Is that who you guys are talking about?” I nodded at the women.
“Yeah, she was Henry’s ex and I swear that bitch never got the hint.” Katherine looked ready to throw down.
“What is she doing here?” I asked, curious at all this random information about Jane’s past and husband.
“She works with Paul, but I didn’t think he would be stupid enough to invite her.” Katherine walked back to JD.
“Well, that should be no surprise to how stupid Paul is.” JD glared at the woman, too.
“Should we try to distract Jane?” Katherine asked.
I looked at back at the dance floor, and we were too late. Jane had spotted her and for a moment I saw the hurt in her eyes before she went back to smiling and dancing away.
“Looks like we are too late for that,” I said, noticing her glancing back at the woman again.
