I noticed Kelsey smirking at her brother. “I just wanted to thank Jane for her generosity and introduce myself.”
He looked at his sister suspiciously. “I hope she was polite.”
“She’s been great. Don’t be such a typical brother.” I smacked his shoulder.
“I also wanted to offer my condolences,” Kelsey added.
“Kelsey, I told you not to do that.” He sounded exasperated. “She doesn’t need reminders, and all you had to do was say thank you.”
“Well, I just wanted her to know mama to mama that I appreciated her and I was really sorry for her,” she bickered back.
I grinned at their typical sibling banter.
“I’m sorry Jane, sometimes Kelsey is…”
I interrupted him. “It’s fine, Callum, she was just being polite, and I appreciate the condolences.”
“See! Gosh I swear Callum. I’m going to go get a churro.” She stormed off, looking adorable.
“Ah, I see you’ve got to experience the Mayers together.” Nathan walked up to us with a beer in his hand.
I laughed. “Front row.”
“They come from a good place.” Aiden joined the group. “It’s good to see you, Jane.” He gave me a crooked grin, and it almost felt like he was flirting. I was having a hard time forgetting the conversation with Madie about being with all three of them.
“It’s good to see you guys too. How’s it going?” I asked, trying not to sound too desperate or nosy. I fucking sucked at this.
“What were you drinking? I can get you another one since Kelsey was being a pain.” Callum took my empty glass.
“I like anything light. I can’t do stouts and I’m not a big fan of IPAs. You don’t have to do that. Kelsey was fine.” I still appreciate that he was so sweet to me, something that was surprising me more and more.
“Anyone want anything?” Callum looked at the guys and they both nodded. Maybe you guys can go get a table for us to sit at over there.”
He pointed at a section that had tables with umbrellas. “Probably a good idea,” I said, making my way to that section for a table. Aiden walked beside me and found one that thankfully had some shade.
They sat down as I unloaded my shopping bags and purse on a chair.
“How are you liking the festival?” Nathan sat closer to me, giving me that shy smile of his.
“It’s actually really cool. When Darcy told me about it, I didn’t think it would be this big.” I looked around, enjoying the atmosphere.
“What you think just because we are a small town, we can’t do anything fun?” He pushed my shoulder with his, teasing me.
“I’m just saying I thought it was going to be small, not that it wouldn’t be good.” I tried glaring at him, but he was too cute for it to work.
“You should see the blue and brews concerts, those are great,” Aiden chimed in, looking at both of us with a curious stare.
“I’ve always wanted to come to that. I hear it’s amazing.” I said as I continued to look around.
“Yeah, it’s great the first few times and then it just gets old depending on who the headliners are,” Nathan said as he looked out in the crowd.
“I hear most of the headliners are great, but I guess it wouldn’t be so much fun since you’re here for it all the time.” I pushed him back with my shoulder, smirking at him. Nathan was so easy to flirt with him, making me more comfortable, or was that the beer I already had?
“Hey Jane, I have a favor to ask you,” Aiden asked, tearing my attention from Nathan.
“Yeah, sure, what’s up?” I looked at Aiden leaning over the table.
“I was wondering if you could work your magic on another client of ours.” He rubbed his beard, and I was thinking this was a nervous habit of his.
