“I don’t know. Michelle wanted to talk to me, so I don’t know what it’s about. I told Aiden I don’t remember what happened after I broke down.” I took a bite of my waffle, and of course, it was fucking delicious. “She knows a little about my situation, or maybe more because the doctor who recommended me used to know Henry.”

“I’m sure it’s not that,” Aiden tried to reassure me.

“I mean, it is what it is. Do you guys mind dropping me off before you head to work so I can shower and change?” I change the subject because I was getting nervous.

“You don’t like my clothes?” Callum smiled before he shoved a big bite in his mouth.

I chuckled. “I look like I’m about to do the walk of shame. So, no thanks.”

Nathan snorted, making me instantly regret my choice of words. I glared at him, hoping he didn’t elaborate on why he was snorting. We finished our food in silence, and I picked up plates.

“I got that.” Nathan got up, and I pushed him back into his seat. “You cook, I clean. Plus, enjoy some downtime before you guys gotta go to work.” I took the plates inside and went back out with the coffeepot to refill mugs. I picked up the rest of the dishes as the guys talked about a few jobs they needed to start.

I came back in, put some music on and got started on the dishes. I got lost in cleaning. When was the last time I had a meal with other people that I really enjoyed? Being here with the guys was natural, and I liked it. The guys brought their mugs in, and I loaded them up and started the dishwasher. I wiped down the counters and washed the pots and pans.

“Perfect timing.” Nathan walked into the kitchen, freshly showered in his work clothes of jeans and a snug fitting t-shirt, that I’m sure would be off by the end of the day. “Callum and Aiden are finishing getting ready, and we can head out.” He laid my purse, a bag on the counter, and left my shoes on the ground for me to wear.

“Thanks, you’re the best.” I put my shoes on, grabbing my purse and bag to wait in the front for them.

“You guys ready?” Aiden came into the kitchen.

“Yup,” I followed the guys out to their work truck, hopped into the back with Callum, and they took me home.
