“How much do you owe?” Kai asked with genuine curiosity in his voice.

I told him, cringing as I did. It was horrible.

“Okay, well, I will help you pay that off.”

“What are you talking about?” I demanded.

Kai smiled, and, weirdly, the other guys did as well. I thought they were going to be upset with me.

“Me too,” Atlas agreed. “I would like to help.”

“Yeah, and me,” Matt agreed. “Hell, if we’re going to be a harem, then we are a team now, right?”

“I don’t want to be a burden though.” I hated that feeling.

“No way,” Matt said. “We’re a team, so we’re all in this together. We share all burdens, okay?”

Wow, they really meant that, didn’t they? The weight had truly been lifted from me. This was all thanks to Maeve. Meeting her had brought us all together and shown us a life that none of us had ever considered.

“We know what we want,” Atlas said. “But we need to see if Maeve wants the same thing. This will only work if she’s interested in us as well. Oh, speak of the devil…”

I followed his eye line and caught sight of her curly hair blowing in the wind as she walked toward us with her hand looped through her son’s. God, she was beautiful. So stunning. Right now, without the painful weight of my failures pressing down on me, I could really lose myself in the fantasy that we could be together forever, and it was glorious.
