“You need to eat,” he murmured, his hold loosening.
Eating was the last thing on her mind, but she didn’t want to pressure him into anything. And right now he was throwing off confusing vibes so she sat again. “This smells amazing.”
“It’s one of the few things I can make so I at least do it well.” He slid a cutting board with diced avocado, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese over to her before he started making his own plate.
She added all of it to her eggs. “So you’re intentionally not telling me who you’re meeting with, right?” He hadn’t offered up the information and she wanted to make sure she was clear on that.
Dimitri grinned as he loaded up his own plate, and she really, really loved that grin. It made him look years younger. “I’ll let you know everything I learn, but correct.”
She wanted to push a little, to ask why he wasn’t telling her, but figured he had a good reason for it. Instead, she took a sip of her coffee and eyed him over the edge of her mug.
He was so economical in his movements, so…hell, everything about him was sexy. The T-shirt he wore hugged all of him, showing off that he had indeed put in time at the gym this morning—and evidently a lot of mornings.
“I like it when you look at me,” he murmured, glancing up and meeting her gaze.
She felt her cheeks flush, realizing she hadn’t been very stealthy. Nope, she was just staring like a perv. “It’s hard not to.”
“I’m looking at you too, every chance I get.” His words came out a low rumble she felt all the way to her core. “And if I didn’t have to leave soon—” His phone buzzed and he winced slightly as he glanced down at it. “That’s Juan. He’s early.”
She really wanted him to finish what he’d been about to say. If he didn’t have to leave early, he’d…what? Strip off her robe right here on the countertop? That thought sent another spiral of heat rolling through her.
Yeah, it had definitely been too long for her. Way, way too long. And she realized that Dimitri was definitely the man she wanted to get back on the horse with.
“I’d give anything to know what you’re thinking right now,” Dimitri murmured before he leaned in, brushed his mouth over hers and headed for his front door.
She was thinking she’d like to kill her brother-in-law for his timing. Just a little.
