“The hotel is fine.” He pushed because it would look weird if he didn’t, but he’d known Ryba would never agree to the first place he picked.

“No.” He named a museum not too far away. “It’s public, so you can’t try any shit.”

“I’m not the one hassling innocent women in public. Or putting hands on them and threatening them with a weapon.” He clenched his free hand into a fist, wishing he could pummel the shit out of Ryba. Dimitri could only imagine how Juan felt right now.

“One hour,” Ryba said instead of responding. “Be there.” Then he hung up.

Dimitri shoved his phone into his pocket. “I’ve gotta go. He wants to meet in an hour at a museum. You can’t leave her,” he ordered Juan.

“I’m not going anywhere, but you need backup.”

Dimitri shook his head. “I’ve got that handled.”

“Do you really, or are you just saying that?” Zamira asked. “Juan and I can go with you and—”

“No!” Dimitri said, once again in tune with Juan. He really did like the younger man.

“I don’t mean show our faces, I just meant like, be there at the museum in case you needed us to call the cops or something.” She twisted her hands in front of her, her expression pinched.

“I’ve got this covered, promise. I’m calling someone in for backup on the way.” Lyosha. “I won’t be alone.” He pulled her into a loose embrace, savored the way she stepped right into his hold, as if it was exactly where she belonged.

She clutched onto him, and he knew in that moment he would do anything for this woman. “Please be safe,” she whispered.

“I will.” Ignoring Juan, glad that the other man had stepped back and was giving them at least the illusion of privacy, he brushed his lips over Zamira’s.

He didn’t deepen it, though he wanted to. Instead he just pulled her close again. He was definitely coming back to her—after he took care of Kurt Ryba.
