“There is no way you aren’t picking up a man in that dress,” I tell Khloi when she comes out of Lucky’s closet.

Khloi blushes running her hands over her hips, “I’m not looking for a man in any way. I just want to go out and have a good time.”

Smiling I turn back to the mirror brushing one last swipe of massacre on my lashes, “You may not be but I know I sure as hell am.”

“What happened with you and Ghost?” Lucky asks from inside the closet.

“We both know that that was nothing. We hung out and had a good time while he was here and when he and Troy went back to his unit that was it.” I shrug hiding the hurt that courses through me when I think of the two amazing weeks I had with Ghost.

I haven’t felt that happy and content since I don’t know when. My mom passed when my brother and I were just babies and my dad didn’t know how to live without her. He fell into the bottle so hard that he lost everything, his career, his relationship with everyone, and worst of all any relationship a daughter dreams of with her father.

Troy’s and my needs were met if barely. My father yelled at us and only smacked us around a little when he had too much to drink. We had stuff to eat. Even if it wasn’t what we always wanted. I tried for many years when I was old enough to be the good daughter and try and take care of things around the house, yet it never seemed to be enough for him. So the day we turned eighteen, we both left my father’s house. Well… I told Troy that I got out so he would go and live his life.

I actually stayed and took care of my father the best that he would allow me to. I would take him food and help clean up around the house up until about four years ago when I found him in a drunken stupor barely breathing and called 9-1-1. The ambulance came and took him to the hospital only for him to freak out that he was better off dead and I should’ve just let him fucking die. That was the day I walked away and let him kill himself with the booze. The day I got the call that he had passed, I was surprised at how relieved I was to know that he was no longer hurting.

Ghost showed up not two weeks later than my brother did. The day he slid into the booth across from me and grinned, it was like the longing for something and someone was gone. I fell in love. Well, major lust for this god of a man. The feeling not only shocked me but caused fear to race through me.

“Well it seems you’re lost,” I say, dripping with sarcasm.

“Aww, Tiny, I’m not lost. It seems I’ve just been found,” the handsome stranger grins.

I raise an eyebrow at him, not amused by his behavior. My brother is in the military so I’ve met plenty of men like this one. They believe they are God’s gift to womankind. I’ve never fallen for any of them.

“Well, it seems like you’ve found your way to the wrong place. I’ve got nothing to give you,” I shrug, leaning back against the booth.

I watch him as he watches me and for a split second, I see the Ghost that hides behind the slick smile and nonchalant attitude. The tight hold I have on my feelings and heart starts to loosen for this man.

“Bitch, you better get your shit together. We both know this man isn’t after anything but a good time!” the little voice inside me growls.

“Tiny, we both know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. The big man upstairs wouldn’t lead me to somewhere I shouldn’t be,” Mister Suave shrugs, popping a peanut into his mount\h.

“Never said that you aren’t meant to be in the bar, just not meant to be in the seat across from me.”

“Nope. No. Not a chance! I don’t believe that at all. So you are stuck with me. You’ll see.”

I can’t stop the smile that spreads across my face at his words. Yep, this man is going to break my heart but you know what? I’m okay with that. What is living if your heart isn’t broken from time to time? So if he wants to do this then I’m going to enjoy myself until he is gone.

The heartbreak that comes after is mine to deal with.

“Woman is your name Aphrodite because you are staring at yourself awfully hard right now,” Kholi laughs.

“Well I mean when you look this good what else do you expect from me?” I throw over my shoulder with a wink.

We all laugh as we finish getting ready and head out. Lucky and Kholi kiss their kids on the head, thinking Old Lady Tina for watching the babies while we are out.

Lucky and my brother got back together two years ago after many years apart. It broke his heart when he had to leave her and the twins to go back on tour with his Navy SEAL’s team.

We pile into the back of my car and head out. We make it to one of the two bars in our town, getting excited when we see that they are having live music.

“This is going to be the most amazing girls' night ever,” Lucky laughs, threading her arms through mine and Kholi’s.

“You are not wrong my friend. Let’s get the shit started!” I yell, throwing my hand in the air and stepping up my pace. We make it into the bar and I order our first round of shots and drinks. The girls and I hit the dance floor. We dance and drink for I don’t know how long before I lose all control of my entire body.

Fuck this isn’t good! Is my last thought before it all goes black!
