KACI

Six Years Ago

Gravel crunched as we pulled in the drive. It was Luke’s senior party but Gracey and I were allowed to come. We were more a part of their class than we were our own.

“You look hot Kac.” Luke smiled at me from the driver’s seat.

“So do you.”

He had on a black t-shirt and blue jeans. His favorite Busch Light hat sat on top of his head. Scuffed cowboy boots covered his feet. He leaned over the center council pushing my hair behind my ears. Luke’s lips hovered over mine before I felt the wetness of them. His tongue pushed through dancing with mine. A moaned escaped my lips before his were back on mine sucking.

A knock on the window jolted us apart. Drake opened the door.

“Dude what the fuck?” He looked at Luke before glancing my way. “Kaci looking beautiful as always.”

“Thanks Drake.”

We got out of the pickup walking up the sidewalk to the house. Luke’s fingers threaded through mine tugging me back.

He moved my hair over my shoulder before whispering in my ear. “You got me all worked up baby.” Pressing his hips into my back, I felt him.

I spun around. “You better fix that before we go in there.” I teased.

Music blared from inside the house. There were cars spread all through the driveway and into the pasture. People were walking all around us into the house.

“How? Look at you.” He motioned up and down my body. “Like its not even fair Kaci.”

“Baby I’m sorry. We’ll party for a little and then you can have your way with me. Deal?” I stuck out my hand.

Snagging it Luke placed a sloppy kiss on my palm. “Deal.” He pressed his lips to mine before we headed into the house.

We walked in and Christmas lights were strung all throughout the house. Everyone had glow sticks hanging from their necks. Nick threw his arms around us handing over cups for the keg.

Luke’s class was one of the biggest to go through Glenwood High. There was at least sixty people here maybe more. They had seventy-two kids in their class. Music vibrated the floor boards.

We got to the keg to fill our cups and Drew was doing a keg stand. The guys around him yelled, “Chug, chug, chug, chug!” Gracey stood off to the side chanting amongst them. Seeing me she darted around pulling me into a hug.

“Oh my God Kac you look sexy!”

“Told you.” Luke added.

“Stop. I don’t, I’m not.” Words left me. I wasn’t.

“Seriously that tank is so cute. Like when did you get boobs? And those jeans are made for you. Spin let me see your ass.” She twirled me around. I couldn’t help but laugh. “Damn girl! Luke you take care of her tonight.” Gracey stood on her tip toes placing a kiss on Luke’s cheek before hugging me again.

“Always.” His hand found the small of my back. Glancing up at him I smiled.

We walked around, Luke saying hi to everyone and me just standing there with a smile. I didn’t like to just start conversations like he did. As we filled our drinks the music cut out and Nick popped up above the crowd. Holding up his drink he started a speech.

“Everyone! As we get ready to all go our separate ways I just wanted to say lets all live it up tonight! This one last night all of us together before graduation next week. The night is ours. Now my good buddy is passing out party favors.” He motioned to Drew passing out shooters to everyone.

“We’re gonna get fucked up tonight!” Drew tossed some bottles in the air.

“Yes, yes we are. Now we have one rule and one rule only tonight. What happens at the Old Carlson Place, stays at the Old Carlson Place! Now let’s get fucked up!” Nick jumped down and the music blasted through the speakers again. Cheers erupted all around from the seniors.

Luke and I walked around mingling with everyone when an arm snaked around Luke’s side. Jenn. Fuck I hated her.

“Hey Luke long time no see.” We literally just saw her yesterday at school. I could tell by the way his shoulders were tensed up he was uncomfortable.
