She glanced over her shoulder, gasped and spun around. “Ian! What are you doing?” Her blue eyes widened as they moved from his face to the ring in his hand.
Ian gave her a wry smile. “I think you know exactly what I’m doing. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
She let out an incredulous laugh. “You said that already.”
“Well, now I’m putting my money where my mouth is. Jessica, you are the most beautiful, headstrong, and talented woman I know, and I’d be a fool to ever let you escape. You are everything to me.” He swallowed hard. “Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Jessica laughed again, nodding. “Yes, a million times yes, I’ll marry you.” She threw her arms around his neck, forcing the two of them to topple to the floor. Touching her nose to his, she grinned. “Just promise me one thing.”
“Anything.”
“You’ll always love me as much as you love my apple pie.”
He laughed. “Deal.”
