She shook her head, her face twisting in pain. “No, I don’t believe you. Faith…Faith is dead.”
I cocked my head. Figuring that evidence was easier than convincing her with words, I took my phone out of my pocket and dialed Vinny’s number.
“Hey,” he answered. “What's going on?”
“Hey, I found your girl. She’s actually right here in front of me, but could you put your honey on the line? She seems to believe Faith’s dead.”
“Sure thing,” Vinny said, not seeming even a little phased by the turn of events.
I handed Kayla the phone, which she accepted doubtfully, and put it to her ear.
I couldn’t hear what was said on the other end of the line, but I knew Faith had come on because Kayla’s face crumbled before my eyes.
