“She was too busy getting plowed like a farmer’s field to notice,” Rix replied with a chortle.

I rolled my eyes at him but couldn’t deny the smile that touched my lips or the slight but delightful ache between my legs.

“I climbed onto the cabin roof and set up the cloaking device for extra coverage and security,” Jorik said. “Figure there’s no real need to keep it on the boat until we’re back on it, right?”

I nodded. “Yeah, that was a good idea. Thank you.” But my mind wasn’t on the safety of our temporary lodging—even though it should be. My mind was on the man who’d just taken me hard and fast in the dirt.

I ran my tongue over the swollen part of my bottom lip where Zane had bitten me hard enough to draw blood. Gently pressing my finger to the cut, I smiled wider, only to have my veins turn chilly when I lifted my gaze and found Zane watching me through the kitchen window in the cabin.

The fiery look in his eyes was wild, dangerous and dark.

And I wanted to walk right into those flames and let them consume me.
