Page 20 of Rejected Mate

“We know you are likely tired,” he continued, “and we apologize for the late hour, but as you know, we are nocturnal.” He gestured at the males around him. “Regardless, this will be the last activity for the night. Afterward, you’ll be allowed to rest until sunset.”

None of the females said anything. I wasn’t sure if they were all exhausted or simply too afraid to speak up.

Ares continued. “We know you’ve been through a lot today, and I thought it might be high time that we showed off our assets instead of the other way around. After all, each of you will have to decide if you accept your mate. No one will be forced to do anything against their will here at our Mating Games.”

Ha. Sure. That’s very likely, considering we were trapped in here.

“Tonight, we are going to compete in some feats of strength with the main goal of trying to impress you.” He smiled and a few vampires chuckled. “An added bonus will be that, whatever male proves victorious, he will be the first to invite his chosen lady to our solo dates tomorrow. The rest will be paired randomly.” He lifted dark eyebrows and gave a sparkling smile. A few of the women around me tittered. They were enchanted by him, and it was easy to see why.

“So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.”

The lights dimmed. Two spotlights clicked on, illuminating circular patches on the floor. The cameras trained their lenses on the vampires as they stepped into the circles of light, chests, and arms glistening since they’d all seemed to have lost their shirts.

“Yum,” a female behind me said.

Were they going to show off their bodies? Or was something else going to happen?

I didn’t have to wonder for long.

There was a snarl and then both groups of vampires tore forward and began to attack each other like their lives depended on it.
