I walked off the ice and down the tunnel.

I looked back and when I saw nobody looking at me, I started to hurry.

When I opened the locker room door, I found Madison sitting in my spot, right under where my name was printed.

She had her right shoe and sock off and was rubbing her ankle.

 “How bad?” I asked.

“Not bad at all,” she said. “My butt and ankle hurt but I’ll be fine. It was an accident.”

“I could kill him,” I said.

 “Who?”

“Lay. That was a reckless play out there.”

“Mav, it’s fine,” Madison said. “I’m on the ice. I’m in the way.”

 “You could get hurt.”

“So what if I do? Will that upset you?”

“Of course it will,” I said.

“Why?” Madison smiled. “Worried you won’t have someone to fuck then?”

I crouched down in front of her. “There are always women who want me to fuck them. So that’s never an issue.”

“That’s disgusting,” Madison said. “I hate you a little bit for saying that.”

“Are you really okay? We have medical staff here.”

“I’m fine. I’m serious. I’ll be right back out in a few minutes.”

“Okay,” I said. “Just glad you’re okay.”

Next thing I knew, I touched her face and leaned in and kissed her.

Madison quickly pushed me away. “What are you doing?”

 “I…”

“We have to be careful here, Mav,” she said.

I stood up. “You’re right. We have to be careful.”

I turned and walked out of the locker room.

That’s when I found Coach waiting for me.

 Arms folded, looking miserable.

 “Good?” Coach asked.

 “Yeah,” I said.

“Got your head on straight now?”

 I nodded.

 That was a total lie.

My head was far from straight.

 Madison had everything twisted up.
