Michelle’s arms slid around his neck. “It might. But I admire and respect you. I think I’d be marrying a man I’d like to share my life with. Yes, I’ll marry you. I’ll join my life with yours here at Two Harts Ranch.”
He held her gaze. “Let’s get Jarvis to town and find us a preacher man, Miss Stiles.”
He hooked his arm through hers, and they headed out. As they stepped through the door to leave the housekeeper’s apartment, Michelle stopped so suddenly she almost stumbled.
She looked back into the room and said, “Come on out, Jilly.”
Jilly had the door open before Michelle finished telling her to come. “Is the wedding on?”
Michelle noticed Jilly had spent the time changing her clothes and was now wearing a riding skirt. She’d also combed her hair. Michelle, the bride, should probably do that, too, but she was already wearing a riding skirt, and as for the rest, the ride would just mess her up again.
“The wedding is on. We’re heading to town.”
Jilly grinned, and it was such a happy expression Michelle could only believe her little sister thought now she’d never have to marry.
What had happened to Jilly that she’d kept hidden from everyone? Michelle admitted to herself as she left the room on Zane’s arm that she was afraid to press her sister for an answer.
