“My deepest apologies.” He shucked his jeans and boxers, and her gaze dipped lower, relishing the view. He took himself in his hand, gripping himself with that sexy casual way he had. “Taking your own photos?”
“Hell yes, I am. But I’d rather take a topographical survey. Come ’ere.” She reached out and took his hand, then guided him onto the bed with her. He braced himself above her, and she curled her hand around his neck, bringing him in for a kiss. He tasted of salt and sex and her, and the feel of him hard against her thigh only stoked the embers again.
She lifted her hips against him, wanting, needing him, but he put a steadying hand on her hip. He broke the kiss and looked down at her. “Where are the condoms you said you had? I forgot to replace the last one in my wallet. I didn’t…plan for this tonight.”
She wet her lips, staring up at him. “When was the last time you were tested?”
“Um.” It seemed to take him a second to register the question. “I had a checkup around Thanksgiving, and I’ve been with no one except you since, but—”
“I’m good too,” she said. “Tested since my last and have an IUD. But it’s up to you. The condoms are in my drawer.”
He brushed her hair away from her face, a line appearing between his brows. “Give me a sec.” He rolled away and got a condom out of her drawer. After rolling it on, he came back to her and pressed a kiss to her mouth. “I trust you. I just…would rather use one.”
“No problem,” she said, meaning it. She smiled up at him, drawing him against her body. “Where were we?”
His smile was slow and sexy. “I believe we were right here.” He dipped his hand between them, finding the place where she was slick and aching for him, and he coaxed her back up the hill as they kissed and explored each other, taking their time, knowing there was no rush.
When he finally pushed deep inside her, she knew she’d made the right decision tonight. All she could think about was this man in this moment. She was living in the now.
She’d worry about the future another day.
A while later, they were lying next to each other under the covers, curled up, sapped of energy, and debating whether they wanted to try to make it through the movie.
“We could always watch it another night,” Beckham said with a yawn. “Or take a nap first.”
“Mmm-hmmm,” she murmured, curling deeper into the crook of his arm. “Naps are good.”
Something scratched against the door.
Then there was a meow.
“Uh-oh,” Beckham said.
Eliza lifted her head. “I think we have company.”
“I’ve got it.” Beckham slipped from beneath the covers and headed to the door.
Eliza sat up, pulling the sheets over herself and enjoying the view of Beckham’s bare backside.
He opened the door and laughed. “Well, hello. Guess you two became friends.”
Mabel bounded in past him and then jumped onto the bed. Trent sauntered in and hopped up on the chair where her bra was hanging. He gave it a cursory sniff and then batted it with his paw.
Beckham turned, smirking. “Sure, come on in, you guys. Don’t wait ’til we’re decent or anything.”
Mabel trotted along the bed and licked Eliza’s face. She laughed and gently nudged the dog away. “Wow, no boundaries, either of you. Mabel, down. You know you’re not supposed to be up here.”
Mabel plopped down atop the covers, tongue lolling out.
“Welp, guess sexy cuddling time is over,” Beckham said, humor in his voice. He grabbed his boxers and pulled them on. “They must want to watch the movie, too.”
“Far be it from us to deny them movie night.” Eliza glanced at her TV. “Want to watch in here?”
“Sure. I’ll grab the movie.”
Eliza tugged on a T-shirt and panties as Beckham got everything set up and then they both slipped back under the covers. But less than an hour into the movie, Eliza heard a soft snore next to her. She turned, finding Beckham with his eyes closed and his chest rising and falling with deep breaths. Trent was curled on the pillow next to him, pressed against the top of Beckham’s head.
She propped herself on her elbow to look at the two of them, wanting to brush the hair out of Beckham’s eyes, knowing she should wake him up, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. They both looked so peaceful.
