"You hurt me, Zeus, but I will always do my duty. I will help you rule here as long as you don't have a mate. Once you find her, you will make her your queen, and I will move away so I can find mine." Hera's voice was soft, no longer harsh like she had been all these years.
"I know I wronged you, but I do hope you will become my mate." Hera's eyes darted to me as she scooted down the sofa, appalled at the idea.
"You don't mean that." I sat closer to her.
"I do, Hera. No other woman can hold a candle to you." Hera's breath hitched.
"Don't say such things. You will have your mate, and I will have mine. We would never work, Zeus. You've hurt me too badly." Hera stood up from the couch and darted to the door. I was quicker and slammed it shut before she could leave. "Let me go." She stood still.
"No, I want you to know how sorry I am." Letting go of the door and falling to my knees, I grabbed her hands and kissed them. My cheek held her hand, and I whispered into them. "I was a fool for losing you. Pushing you away and letting the power of being a Celestial King get to my head. Getting away with such impurities was wrong. Please, Hera, will you please forgive me one day." Hera's eyes pooled little stars as she took her hand away.
"I forgive you, but that doesn't mean I want you as a mate if it came down to it." She turned and walked out of the office, slamming the door in my face.
